love my sar 4's,,what do you think??

I concur on the handle-size, but that is a Busse trait. Look at the length of the SHSJ and BAIII handles.

But that isn't what the SAR4 is for - it's for pounding stuff with that big heavy seriously-exposed tang handle. And it does it well.

I love the looks, but don't know if I like it in practice. I picked up a BRKT Bravo 1 and have a Vex shipping. I suspect the SAR4 won't have a place - esp. with my butt-ground BAIII in the stable as well.

Basically, I've got too many knives. ROTFL! B/c I could also justify using my SHBA instead of the SAR4 too.

I don't know if anyone's mentioned this, but the rounded nuclear meltdown butt on the SAR-4 should make a pretty good flaying poll for skinning larger game similar to the rounded poll on the award-winning Gransfors Bruk Hunters Axe. That makes it an even better Camp/Hunting knife than I originally thought. Comments?

One of the best Busses I have. Having mainly larger Busses, SAR4 is actually the only one I use frequently. The kydex sheath was so so - I'll have a decent leather sheath made for it.

I love my SAR4's...picked one safe queen and one for general house chores, and the ocassional outback steak slicing duty :D

This is a great thread. I didn't know about SAR4, but saw it on YouTube. I am very excited about the design and I think if I am able to get one for this family it will stay in the family forever. Just hope there are many for sale when I have the scratch. I don't have a Busse, but I would like to start with a Tank Buster and an SAR4...really great to read about these knives. I already have a monster chopper..ironically a BArk River..where one or two of you have wrote that their slicer is a barkie and their choppers are Busse. I want to use Tank Buster for general bumming around because It is long enough to give me some edge to work and not too thick..though that shouldn't matter depending on the type grind on it. I don't really do any hunting and skinning so I don't need a field dressing or hunting knife. I would love to add a TB to my Bark River Forrester. I would keep the SAR4 as a collection piece I guess, not in a hurry to take it out canyon crawling. I want to try INFI!---Joe

Once I held one I knew I was holding the most amamzing fixed blade ever. Just felt PERFECT in the hand. Pure art.

But I just got my first Busse, a SAR5! So far I really like it! Just needs some work on the edge, and it'll be good to go! :D Can't wait to get out and use it!

I enjoy my SAR4 as well. Haven't been able to convince myself to do more than fondle it though. I will get there, it just takes me a couple months of looking at it to take that step. My Pumpkin SE went on a hunting trip last weekend, but when it came time for the dirty work...out jumped the GW to take over.

Which reminds me....put a nice ding in the Warden on that trip. Removing the butt on a buck deer and slipped, hitting a big beach rock. Need to get her sharpened out before the next trip. :grumpy:

What is the difference between the SAR 4 and the SAR 5 besides an inch in length? I am trying to learn the differences on the Busse blades since I am new to it.
Thanks

Completely different beasts IMO. I love the 4 but the 5 not so much.

This is the best Busse model ever.
The blade is perfect size for a fixed. Handle is perfect too.
Mine is not too long with me, but it is already a user and will sure stay home. INFI is sweet and the blade is gorgeous and takes some beating with no harm.

Well, the SAR4 is very close in shape and size to my HI R-10:

I missed out on them because I had to save $$ for the surgery I had yesterday, but once I'm back to work, I plan on getting a double cut model. I really like the design, very versatile, and since I already have a knife very much like it, I know it will work for me.

I've got 2 SAR-4's. A double cut w/ Black micarta and an satin with Black/Tan G10. These are my first taste of INFI and I'm still in awe of their beauty. I may have to buy a user in order to actually use one as my new ones look to pretty.

The SAR4 is a beast of a knife in that size. I didn't keep mine as it was too heavy for me but I can see why many would like the SAR4. The fit and finish with the meltdown treatment is fantastic.

Yes, it is a beast! Was doing some yard work with branch chopping. SAR-4 did all of it no sweat :)
