Here are a few pictures of my latest knife, which as you can see is inspired somewhat by the work of Mr Loveless!!
O/L - 8"
Blade - 3 7/8"
Steel - 3/16" circular saw blade, oil quench & double temper.
Fittings - brass
Handle - A Delrin type material "liberated" from work!
Any comments good or bad very much appreciated.

Looks good, but I wonder why you decided to call it a Loveless rip-off?

Thanks for looking Keith. The reason I titled it Loveless rip-off, is because in regards to design and construction, (give or take a few differences) thats what it is!
I learned how to make it from his book as well, so I can hardly take too much credit for it!!

Beautiful knife.. one question... the sheath looks great except for what appears to be 2 holes in the blind side?

I think that you should have titled it Loveless inspired.

I think maybe I should! I'm now thinking rip-off may have a slightly different meaning on the other side of the Atlantic.
Sorry if I've worded it wrongly, I just wanted to show my version of one of my favourite knives. I'm well aware that its nothing like a true Loveless believe me!!

If only it was;)

Thank you Will, the two holes are for drainage. I don't normally bother, but my aim was to stick as close as I could to the Loveless design.

I knew there was a reason, the stitching and work is incredible and I couldn't believe a craftsman such as yourself missed the holes ;)

Ian

Loveless rip -off or inspired..either way it's still a wonderful knife to look at...

Looks good to me! Delrin is a pain to work with. You did a fine job!

Yep, Has to have the hole or holes in the back! This step is too often left out! Not only works for drainage, but you can use shop air to really clean out a sheath after a long hunt. You would be amazed at what kind of junk can get stuck in your sheath. And It never wants to come out!!!

Keep up the good Work!

that's a good point about using compressed air to clean out the sheath via the drainage holes.
A nice nugget of info, Mike, thanks:thumbup:

Bob Loveless would be proud if he saw it. It looks great. Bob wrote a book on how he makes knives. I see you put your own name on it, if you put his logo it would indeed be a rip-off. I am in the process of making a chute knife.
