Photos Loveless style knives?

where are the Japanese makers?????? some beautiful Loveless blades from Japan

No pic but a quick story.....I was at the New York Custom knife show in the late 1990's.....just so happens that Bob Loveless is sitting behind a table with about 3 knives on the table. He has other people fronting for him.....including a very attractive young lady....but you can't mistake the man...IYKYK. I walk up and another patron walks up next to me. He says "there are a lot of hunting knives here...why are yours so expensive?". The young lady fronting the table was trying to explain....but the patron wasn't picking up what she was putting down. He couldn't understand why so expensive. Finally, Bob Loveless gets up from his chair and says "because this knife says 'Loveless'.....😁".....

I had the chance to buy a stag 4" hunter for $2200 from Bob Loveless himself....but just didn't have the $$ at the time. There's not a week that goes by that I regret that opportunity.....

Bob didn't take shit from anyone! 🤣

I owned quite a few Loveless style and never any by Japanese makers, no particular reason. Another country that has some great makers doing his style is South Africa. The fellow that led that group was the late Rob Brown, today makers such as Wesley Liversage and Shaun Bruwer are doing an outstanding job.

One I had owned from Rob Brown:

Have one of this style from Cold Steel , the "Black Bear Classic" .

My only sub-hilt fighter . Beautiful , but also an excellent designed /built functional fighter . :thumbsup:

I have the San mai version from Japan........Its a great piece.......

The Japanese knife.guys are \.were Gaga over Bob Loveless and his work!!! And why not.......Right.😉............You know they appreciate a good blade design there 😜.......Add in their meticulous and total submersion into a task...

Now that you mention it, it does seem like there are a lot of Japanese knife makers specializing in traditional American designs. They do have a thing for vintage Americana; my best jeans are Japanese and made using traditional American methods no longer seen here. The bottom subhilt in the Pic I posted is from Hiroaki Ohta, supposedly he was friends with Bob.

Have one of this style from Cold Steel , the "Black Bear Classic" .

I forgot, I have one more subhilt and it's this one! That thin double grind is super light...

Russ Andrews II is widely known for his forged knives but he also makes some really nice stock removal knives, here’s another semi-skinner in my collection and while it’s not 100% traced to a Loveless pattern, there’s no doubt it shares many features including the tapered tang, CPM-154 steel and some nice ass stag scales
