Amazing what dogs will do!

My wife is now reading, "The Beast in the Garden" by David Baron @ 2004.
It's about the return of mountain lions to Boulder CO.
She will want to see this :)

DEFINITELY deserves a seak for the rest of her life every night...

Thanks for sharing:thumbup: !

Dogs are the BEST

Dogs wake up and think "WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU"!!!

Cats wake up and think "WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR ME"

Dogs have Masters--Cats have STAFF

Dogs are the best!!!!

That's a pretty crazy story! Hope the dog's alright.

I can't believe nobody attempted to help the dog?? :(
Ya I was thinking the same thing, good thing that cop got there in good time.

What was SAD???

That they had to call the police

I'll wager NO ONE here on this forum would have just sat around and waited for the police to arrive.

99% of us would have shot the Cougar to death!!!

1% would have chopped it to death

No one(here) would have called the police and WAITED!!!

2 bulldogs on the porch and one in my pocket, loaded with silver-tips.

I would think, if they had firewood, they had an axe somewhere around there... I know I would have grabbed that sucker in a heartbeat if it was one of MY dogs with his head being chewed on.

That said, they said the cop showed up within a minute, so maybe they knew they lived in a spot where he would be there immediately, and that's why they chose to not risk their own hides. It sounded like it was a young boy and his mother at the time, and the dad might not have been home.

welcome to Canada.

Had the homeowner acted and shot the cougar, they would have been arrested, charged by the RCMP for firearms offences, charged by the SPCA for animal cruelty, and the child would have been seized by the Ministry Of Children & Family Services.

oh you think i;m joking?

Hmm... Well if that is what would happen, you shoot the cougar, eat the cougar, then say I shot a warning shot and he ran into those bushes there... Or actually risk your own life and attempt to scare or beat it off the dog yourself. Either way, I wouldn't be standing around while my dog's getting eaten.

If the home owner had killed the cougar with a lawfully-possessed firearm (or convenient broom handle or expertly-wielded pair of ice skates), I doubt there would have been any legal followup.

Best,

- Mike
