Any Lum Chinese folder owners EDC the knife? They are so rare and hard to find. I just bought two from knifeworks and I'm trying to decide between safe keeping them or using one. I already have a Military for everyday rough use, the Lum looks too pretty to use.

Yeah I carry and use mine. I bought it with the purpose in mind. I just cant bring myself not to use such a wonderfully designed knife.

I have a blue one and it has been in my EDC rotation since the day it arrived. All my knives are users and I love my Lum.

None but I have owned multiple ZDP knives for like 3 years now. I started with a WH titan before anyone but them had ZDP.

and thanks for telling everyone where to get one now I wont be able to get a backup(darn payday needs to be sooner) :p

Mongo I've sharpened my ZDP189 Caly Jr. with the Sharpmaker whites and had excellent results. Whittles hair nicely :D

I carry my ZDP lum chinese. It is a beautiful user. It has a stylish look, and it cuts stylishly. (Best way I can describe it.)

The other thing I love about carrying this knife is that it seems like less distance for my thumb to travel to pop it open. Thanks to the curve

i buy everything with the intent on carrying/using it.

some never get used, and typically get traded/sold.

and thx for the tip, ive also been looking for one!!

A ton of them just got posted on the Bay.

I have two, carry one. It's a sweet gentleman's folder.

I do question the need for ZDP on such a knife though . . .

i don't understand this statement.

It's not critical. It's just that I see the Lum as a gentlemen's folder. Not a heavy use knife and even though I love ZDP and wouldn't change the knife in any way, I would probably be just as happy with it if it were VG-10 just because I don't do much else with it except daily EDC stuff like opening boxes, envelopes and such.

Just an observation is all. It may also have a lot to do with the fact that I touch up my edges all the time regardless of steel.

My Stretch II on the other hand, is made for ZDP.

zdp seems to me to be more suited to a small gent's knife, like the william henrys.

doesn't the high rc make it less suitable for "hard" use?

and i do the same regarding touching up.

Yes, I agree. Again my comment was probably really born out of edge retention and since I strop and touch up almost daily on my EDC. Nothing more. I agree that the edge stays sharp but may not be the best for hard use.

ZDP189 wouldn't be my first choice for a knife I plan to baton and chop with. That being said...

I did take an Endura in ZDP189 flat to the stone, so the edge was considerably thinner than the Lum's even, then applied a tiny microbevel. I then used it for all my EDC tasks, carved lots of wood with it, chopped at wood with it and batoned it through wood. The edge was never compromised.

I can't think of anything I'd regularly do with a folding knife that the steel couldn't handle. I'd happily take a Manix in ZDP189 for example. Not what most consider a gents folder. :D

that's what I heard too...I prefer VG10 actually due to the corrosion resistance. That being said, I've EDCed my Lum Chinese since I got it 2 months ago.

I ordered one from knifeworks today. I thought about it and went back to buy a 2nd and they were sold out. I hope the inventory was correct for my order. I must have got one of the last ones.
