Thought I'd find some rifle enthusiasts among the Becker crowd! This is my 1954 M1 Garand from The CMP. The BK7 is wearing walnut burl.

Beauties, both. Looks like a marriage made in heaven.

It does an old gyrene's heart good to see such a pair.

Beautiful! My wife, who usually rolls her eyes when she sees me on here, stopped and said "Wow, that looks so nice! Where did he get those?"

Again, beautiful!

the woman thinks i was looking at porn the way i responded to that pic....much love here for the ol Garand.

Not that I'm old or anything (cough), but the M-1 was my first issue rifle as a young Marine, and I've always loved that rifle. I will admit that I actually like the M-14 better, but the M-1 is a real close second.

The one Marathonman is showing is a beauty, and I'd love to have one like that, if only for nostalgia's sake. The BK-7 is a beauty, too: those walnut burl grips are drool worthy. Love to have some like that, too.

Either one alone would be nice, but the combo... the combo is incredible.

MArathonman,
Is that a USGI stock or a CMP or Boyd's stock? It looks too perfect to be 1950s vintage. More pics please... Love the Garand.

Also gotta agree with dawsonbob... While I think the M14/M1A a VAST improvement in the way of weight and reloading ease and capacity, there is something mystically attractive about the M1. And while the clip is a bit of a nuissance, the M1 is still a phenominal rifle. It has stood the test of time and then some!

i just passed a CMP cert :) 200yds, iron sites, minute of grapefruit if you want 10s :)

very pretty rifles those, even if i have no practical use for one (or more)

Congratulations, bro.

Yeah, they were sweet, but — like you — I have no practical use for one, either.

practical schmactical. they're a hell of a lot of fun!

(okay, tough to batton a log with an M1...)

Yes, they're fun, alright. Just more expensive than I can justify nowadays.

My Ruger 22/45 is fun to shoot, too, and I can afford to shoot that (sometimes). The Ruger might be considered the Becker of handguns (still won't baton your firewood, though).
