M4 Ti Millie Alert!!!

Exactly, It annoys me quite a lot when people buy multiples of sprints just to make a profit and don't actually use them. Then the people who actually want one to use either miss out or a forced to fork over an unreasonable amount.

I just noticed this thread and paid the deposit. Got confirmation, no problem.

I'd be interested in the frame lock Mili with a G10 side. Where do I preorder? Forgive my ignorance...

Thanks,

GregB

Just for those who, unlike you, weren't on the list before it was cut off last year due to oversubscription, you can pay but you'll get a refund and not get the knife. It isn't possible to jump the line by sending a $20 deposit.

Yep -- as stated (quite clearly I might add) in the link.
Good point of "extra" clarity here, though.

Yep, he (VVK) was obviously lucky enough to get in before they sold out. If other people try to jump in by paying without having been on the list, Roger will weed them out but it will make his life hell, and he is one of the nicest people I've ever dealt with.

Deposit paid.

I didnt happen to miss a post that stated how the Ti/G10 version will have tip-up capabilities...did I? ;)

To clarify, I was excited and in a harry and probably did not make myself clear. I was on the original pre-order list since last year. However, I was not checking my e-mail recently (I am on a mission in Africa) and by chance noticed that Roger has started taking deposits. I immediately paid and voila got confirmation :D

 We're saying the same thing, or trying... :D

I wish there were some nice prototype pics to look at in the meantime.

That would be nice. Considering these special projects are a lot of work for the consumer too. This is not what one would call an easy purchase :)

Try not to sweat the delivery time too much. My guess is it'll get bumped out anyway. :D Lot's of runs do. My thoughts on that, take your time and do it right. No rush. It's going to be such an awesome piece when it's done.

Words cannot describe how excited I am for this blade to be shipped. I was on the list November 22 of '09. I actually started a thread in the general section for those who paid their deposit to sound off.

I am very curious to learn what the color of both the G-10 scale and the back spacer will be. I have two other millies and I dislike how the spacer on the orange model is black (yuck). If I had my druthers I would put a natural G-10 scale on this millie as seen on the leaf storm.

I feel very strongly that this piece needs something to make it stand out and say "I'm not like other millies. I am special." I think a non-standard scale/spacer color combination would do just that. Otherwise, people will slap a G-10 scale on one side of a Ti millie and be posers ;)

Perhaps if this is not decided on yet and the manufacturing process has not begun, we can petition spyderco/knifeworks to make the scale in a color other than black. We could run a poll on this forum and some others and petition them that way. If this can be done for forum knives why not this special run. Thoughts?

The G-10 color will be black.

I'm guessing the backspacer will be the standard anodized aluminum that is used in current production Military pieces.

If the backspacer bothers you (some people really don't like it), you can remove it and just push out the 2 threaded barrels and just use those. They looks like standoffs. It's a clean look without sacrificing too much rigidity in the handles.

I would prefer G-10 for the backspacer as well (like Emerson's), but the anodized aluminum works just fine. The backspacer is a non-critical part and having it made out of G-10 wouldn't have any benefits over what's being used now. Maybe someday? Spyderco did change the old delrin (plastic) backspacers with the aluminum. That was a thoughtful upgrade (delrin can crack over time).
