I believe all M9's except for the ones made in Spain, stated on the blade, are made at Buck. Good find...

Edited: Preston reminded me that Ontario and Lan-Cay also made them. My statement should have been; Buck made all PHROBIS and BUCK M9's except for the ones made in Spain, I do believe.

The older I get the more Brain Farts I have...Ha!

Don, Lan-Cay and Ontario Knife make the M9 now. They picked up where/when Buck left off. Not sure of the years. Preston

Yeah I know, dummy me forgot to say that...
I'm going to edit to show that...

Thanks Preston for keeping me on my toes...

I have read, we'll find out for sure when Rich's book comes out, that when Buck didn't get the contract for the M9's, other than 2500 for field trials, Ontario made roughly 10,000 until Lan-Cay finally was awarded the full contract of 100,000 +...Also there are two or three different tang stamps of the Lan-Cay's?? I don't know why?

Awesomes news since the first book!
Congrats!
One question regarding the book.
Since the regular soft cover version is largely black and white,
Would the downloadable electronic version be in color
Exactly like the special autographed edition,
presuming there would be one?
And what about having a hard copy pdf formatted cd-rom version of both books in the future?
Just wondering...
First 188 will have 103 pages of color. Then black and white mass sales then ebook a few years down the line but ebook will be mostly color.

Great question. Buck actually won the contract ( at first I thought Buck lost however Jeff Hubbard a Buck knives has detailed information on this and set me straight ) BASICALLY the problem with the contract was ( correct me if I’m wrong Jeff ;). It wasn’t specific if Buck was going to get a order for 10,000 knives or 100,000 knives and it wasn’t a for sure thing Buck was going to have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to re-tool and they didn’t think it was worth the risk so the last bayonet ever produced was 20 prototypes for the second army submission in 1996 I have great pictures information and original blueprints of this Bayonet.

Here is one of the 1996 Army Second Contract prototype submission blade blue prints ...
KNOWN by BUCK AS LONG TANG THREADED.
Called by others "Barrel Nut"!
Bill Porter wrote a great article in the SBAC Journal summer 2002 "BUCK Barrel Nut Bayonet"

NO teeth were ground in the 20 'LONG TANG THREADED". BTW almost every single one was destroyed

Some older test blades stamped by Harry Camphuysen in late 1980's both with large PHROBIS Dolphin.
The name "PHROBIS" was coined by Commanding Officer of SEAL Team Three early and late 1980's Commander Coulter.
