Great question. Buck actually won the contract ( at first I thought Buck lost however Jeff Hubbard a Buck knives has detailed information on this and set me straight ) BASICALLY the problem with the contract was ( correct me if I’m wrong Jeff. It wasn’t specific if Buck was going to get a order for 10,000 knives or 100,000 knives and it wasn’t a for sure thing Buck was going to have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to re-tool and they didn’t think it was worth the risk so the last bayonet ever produced was 20 prototypes for the second army submission in 1996 I have great pictures information and original blueprints of this Bayonet.
DSS, I stand Corrected. I guess by Buck not proceeding explains the lack of paperwork. Also now you know My source of info...
