Be it in INFI or one of the other Bussekin steels who would like to own and use a machete? Just vote and we can vote on specifics later.

I would really like to see a machete with a Busse heat treat!

I don't know which steel would be optimal. Maybe s77 or Infi???

Of course, it is easy to say I would love one, but unless it was pretty cheap, I would not be able to afford it.

i would love one but i think it would be to expensive...
there is already so many good cheap ones out there.

The price for an Infi machete would be too great.....

Machetes are like chopping moras.

That's why I listed other Bussekin steels as a possibility for cost reduction. I don't think we are thinking of the same type of machete. I'm not referring to a thin version like a Tram or Imacassa. What I see is one better suited for heavier chopping like the Martindale Bolo Cleaver Machete at 4-5mm or more thickness on the spine. At least that's what I'd like to see.

Machetes don't last long here. I need a real knife or a Woodsman's Pal for the PNW.

Or an axe! ;)

But I have to ask what chores do you see a "real knife" doing that a good machete can not? I mean I carry a smaller EDC blade so that's covered. And if I had to split huge logs I'd simply take smaller sections out instead of straight down the middle. But aside from testing I don't see myself chopping through the middle of a log with a huge diameter. Heck, I even pry with my machetes... nothing on the scale that an FFBM but enough.

I can understand if some of you guys who live where it gets really cold and you have to deal with chopping up frozen or very dense material world prefer a real beefy knife or axe.

Where I live and travel it is pretty temperate so a machete works great. So does a beefy knife. But I like the reach of a machete for one. Allows me to clear a path or an area to camp while keeping my hands and face further away from brush, limbs, etc...

A thicker(say 5/32 or 3/16) with say an 18" blade would be nice. Maybe SR77 to keep cost down and a Regulator handle. Either a Bolo or CS large bowie machete blade would be nice.

What shape?

My favorite is a toss-up.

One is a Tramontina Bolo the other is a shape from Ontario from a few years ago...

It has a sort of hooked nip...it's only about 22" long, so not true machete.

I honestly think the part of the country you live in makes a huge difference in the sort of blade that works best.

I will vote yes, just to see what happens.

It's not that a machete can't do it. I utterly destroy machetes when I use them, and I do use them (and Woodsmans Pals) for trails, but mostly if there are lots of rocks and such. A machete is cheap to replace. I use a knife, for clearing areas for camp and such.
