It's not that a machete can't do it. I utterly destroy machetes when I use them, and I do use them (and Woodsmans Pals) for trails, but mostly if there are lots of rocks and such. A machete is cheap to replace. I use a knife, for clearing areas for camp and such.
The price for an Infi machete would be too great.....
Machetes are like chopping moras.
I love Busse, I love their knives, the people, the forum.......but I am not one of the people that I would love to see Infi everything... Infi this....Infi that. You ever sit back and listen to all the things people want with Infi.....
I would like to freeze Infi in the winter to skate on it and melt it in the summer to drink it.
I want my childrens baby shoes dipped in it....
I want Infi lawn mower blades......
Even in the 4-5 mm thickness, with a 14-18" blade....I think it leave toooooo much room for knuckledragggers and numbnuts to abuse.
There are a lot of great machetes out there, I say stick with those and lets focus on this MUK!

Can you imagine the trough on the day it released?

Yeah, but you'd never need to sharpen it. (Notice I said "need")![]()
If this was a scrapyard project using Sr77 steel with some kinda new busse heat treat. It would be a good start. The basic 11 is the best they have sold thus far and it can be improved upon. The basic 11 blade with another 2-4 inches of sr77. Then thin it down to closer to 1/8th stock. I think the handle is perfect but it would be interesting to see this type of a blade on the deregualtor handle.
This is a problem I see often but I do not want people who do not know how to handle their tools to ruin it for the rest of us. Some other companies have put out their models of a machete and I am not seeing dozens of returned machetes with bent and/or snapped blades. But that is a concern for sure.
Trams are great but work better in their intended environment. My Hansas work great on softer vegetation but not so much on heartier materials. MY thicker machetes eat through it. There was a machete build off in the WS&S forum where some of our resident BS knife makers made their own version of a machete. There were some thick blades there too and all were great. Not at all like a long mora.
A longer Basic could be in the right direction. And there is no reason to scratch the folder or muck. Bring them all on.
Cost would be a focus too so we'd have to see which steel would give us the most bang for our buck.
