  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

MACV SOG Bowie - which one?

LOL!

Okay, Roy. I got no pitchfork, I got no crusade, I got no opinion on Bark River or Mike Stewart. Never have, never will. I don't care.

Was trying to relay to you the FACT that evaluating a knife as "fantastic" based on "just looking at the picture" rings hollow to a lot of folks. Me included.

"All puffed up and rallying the townspeople to storm Bark River Castle"... Hooo boy that's awesome. Total BS, but awesome.

Here are a few variations: Bark River, original SOG (Santa Monica), SOG (Taiwan), Bark / Vehement, Hattori, Bark / Vehement, Custom Alan Blade. Bark River has been good over the years as far as I am concerned. I have owned a bunch of them, used a few and even sent one or two back to Mike Stewart to have the back edge sharpened, with excellent results.

The drama around BRK is intensified and dramatized by people that live for drama. In fact, my statement alone will probably bring the haters out of the woodwork. I’ve owned several BRK knives and I could care less whether Mike Stewart hurt someone’s feelings once, the knives are excellent in fit and finish and I’d trust my life to one any day...
Same here. Back in the Knifeforums days, Mike and I had our disagreements and misunderstandings. We always settled them amicably.

I absolutely LOVE his Blackjack and Bark River products. I have about a dozen Blackjacks (Seki, Effingham, etc.) and five Bark Rivers. I would trust my life to any of them.

Notice the full sized handle on the Bark River. Perfect for those with bear paws for hands, like me. LOL.

Greetings from Europe. Not all of them are in the photo... two more are missing.

Sorry, I can't insert a photo.....

To answer the original question, I personally would get the 86-06 SOG 1F/S1. I only have 3 CISO SOG knives as they are getting harder and harder to come by. Pictured is a Plumb Numbered 6inch with the original box. The 86-06 1F/S1 knives are very good replica's. Pictured is my SOG Specialties 1F Bowie. The S1 knives are identical except for the LOGO side and lack of numbers. I see them regularly on internet auction sites. The 2.0 just does not have the same quality in my opinion. As for the rest, I do not own any. I hope you find what you are looking for.
