Made in Idaho:)

I don't like any writing on my knives, either. Or fingerprints.

I also polish all my Snap-on wrenches each night with a buffer and I keep them on velvet pillows in the drawer. They were over $500, after all. Everyone knows tools are supposed to look good first and only in the event of an extreme emergency, actually be used.

Function is only an afterthought; what really matters is form.

Nice sarcasm, but let's not be fools.
We all know that after a certain price point, it is NOT about function.
Not even a little.
If it were, we'd never plunk down more than $100-$200 max on a knife. The more expensive ones do not function any better, if we define function for a knife as cutting, poking holes in things and, for some people, light prying.
The extra money is, to paraphrase R.A.T. here, because it makes us look cool.

The ugly, unnecessary writing on the new CRK's does not look cool. Hence it detracts from the whole reason that people plunk down that sort of coin.

Search your feelings...you know this to be true.

I will disagree with some of that. Sometimes we plunk more money down because we are looking for better performance. Be it tools or trucks. For the most part though, you are right.

I knew if I kept saying stuff I'd eventually be partly right!:D

To me, IDAHO MADE is part of the pride in ownership. I don't live in the state but there are tons of knives that say USA Made. But to narrow it down to a State makes it even more special in my eyes. If we had the ESEE factory here on the farm we would probably narrow that down even more and have MADE ON RANDALL ROAD - USA on the knife.

That would be kickass!
I guess the stigma of potatos, sugarbeets, and some hippie spill over from the Washington area makes for a and combo...:D

Great post. Exactly what I'm gettin' at.

Too true also! Except for the disagreeing part :D

Seriously though, all knives cut and if it's only about function wouldn't everyone carry one of those new fancy Cold Steels with the triad lock?

Or KaBar putting "Made in New York" on theirs. Now that would be something to be pissed about. Ethan Becker would have a shit-fit.

And Clean, we are in the process now on a folder. Photos are somewhere on this forum, I think a thread called "ESEE 3 folder" or something like that. We haven't even decided yet what to put on it. You have the chance here to make a difference. How would you mark it up?

i'm thinking some Nascar logos... yeah! Ethan would love those. Maybe laser engrave his likeness under the handles. Let's see the Chinese copy THAT.

for the folder, you need to have :

"Idaho Made, by permission of City Council, on Friday, by Bob, I'm drinking Rum! Hey, paycheck, Ka Ching, Where was I? Mmmmm, Fridayyyyy, WOoooOOOoooooooo GUNNA GET ME SUM, imma chargin ma laserz, pew pew pew"

now THAT would be an engraving!

be kinda like those wavey double yellow line painters going down the highway, nothing gets in their way. not possums, not dead hookers.

every single knife unique, and collectible! :)

mmm, i'm going to put racing stripes on my BK9 now. it works for Alton Brown... :D :D :D
