I've been using a VPN to get round the issue Duncan. Unfortunately, it can cause problems, and today it's down altogetherIm sorry Jack, I thought that was a temporary thing my friend.
I will try again once I get to my laptop Jack matey.
Great Knives Bob and Jack!
I picked up Nest knife the other day handled in Horn, so i took some shots alongside another nest knife with White bone Handles I got some time back.
There are difference, yep sure the White Bone handled one has some belly lost by sharpening, but the Clip-point is definitely longer and I don't think the Blade on the White Bone handled example was ever as this as the Horn example, both Blades show their differences.
Jack can you see these photos Sir?

I then added in a Joseph Rodgers- love it with these knives how they are so heavily stamped / etched.
Edit. Mistakenly quoted stamping on the J.R Spey Blade.

Jack, neat lettering on that Saynor knife.
Duncan, very cool Nest and Rodgers examples, I love all the blade stamps.
Here is an old and unusual lock back folder from Wade & Butcher which was quite a well respected company.
Odd that they put a hole in the back lock tab to attach a lanyard. But the hole (and potential teather) would not interfere with the tab which only pushes in slightly to release the blade.

Sorry you've had such a drama Duncan.Jack my friend, can I ask that you go back to the previous page (post #'s 3,154 & 3,155)
I looked on my desktop and I cursed as I had deleted these photos that were sitting on there, so I thought " Oh they will still be in Picasa where I edit the photos to crop them to size - but the photo's vanished before my eyes as I didn't file them away, and if they aren't on my desk top- they will be gone ( unless I file them into a file name in the archive section of Picasa) .
So I thought- that's ok....I will just go into my phone and resend them to my email, but no.........guess who deleted all the photos yesterday! Sooooo I thought "right- they will still all be sitting in my laptop recycle bin"..... but nooo, when Duncan gets in a cleaning mood, I emptied the recycle bin yesterday as well (clearing space).
I thought I may have to take the photographs again- but then remembered in Imgur all my photos are there, so I copied and pasted each one of them again and then replaced each photograph.
So I am hoping, now that I copied the photographs off my Imgur, and pasted them into a file on my desktop, that the photographs won't have the Imgur link any more and simply a j-peg.
Jack can you see those photos now Sir? I hope so!![]()
Very interesting finds Duncan, and it's nice to be be able to see them comparedGreat Knives Bob and Jack!

I also like all the different stamps DuncanSo I put a couple of Joseph Rodgers together, Bunny Knives / Husbandry knives, if you look at the top knife in the top photo- this knife is unused- and I can see why as the positioning of the Nail Nick so far back with a real strong spring means its a 10 out of 10 pull- it doesn't make sense.

I read in G. Tweedale's book that in 1880 was granted the corporate slogan which was the nest with three eggs- so became "Nest Knife". Geoffrey stated there wasn't a lot known about the company.I really like those nest knives. Is there a story behind the name?
What a cool knife and great shape to boot, have not seen except once before the lanyard hole placed in that positionJack, neat lettering on that Saynor knife.

I edit all my post for weird grammaredited my last post due to weird grammar
Some very nice Old Sheffields my friend . I can see an amazing similarity between the Nest Barlows and my 2014 Eye Witness Barlows . There surely has to be some connection . The Eye Witness ones also have Flush ends .Great Knives Bob and Jack!

Thanks a lot palYou’re so welcome Jack.
Love those two knives you have shown. That older Castrator Knife is a beauty!
The only reason why it was a little weird was because I had cleaned up, glad you didn't miss out!
Yeah- definitely differences between the knives Jack, I think there was some slight differences in the Clip- but boy- like you say the Castrator blades are very different to each other.
Thank you Jack!, hope you are starting to feel better.![]()
Beautiful PaulI only have two that fall into the date range and maybe only one. I’m not sure on the lambsfoot. Willam Rodgers 2 blade lamb with full size spey and Joseph Rodgers castration/spey knife. I will say that the Joseph Rodgers is the absolute sharpest knife I own. The previous owner ground to blade down to be a laser beam. As mentioned aboveJack Black kindly gifted me this beauty. Both of these knives are in horn.

The older TEWs with Barlow bolsters are even more like the Southern & Richardson models HarrySome very nice Old Sheffields my friend . These are certainly out of the date range for this thread but :

Harry
I ordered them in December 2014 and did not get them until Jan. 2015 so I assume that they were made in 2014 .Nice ones Harry- Some of the new Sheffield's leave me a bit sad as they are nothing in comparison to the older day Sheffield, in saying that Harry- those two look very nice! What is the year of manufacture of these Harry- in the 2020's?
