Made mistake - seeking advice

David,

If you sent the knives to anyone in California, and it can be established that they received it and have made no attempt to return it, then, as Ira said, it is theft. If the value of the knives is over $400, then the crime is "grand theft".

California Penal Code section 485 reads:
"One who finds lost property under circumstances which give him
knowledge of or means of inquiry as to the true owner, and who
appropriates such property to his own use, or to the use of another
person not entitled thereto, without first making reasonable and just
efforts to find the owner and to restore the property to him, is
guilty of theft."

Hope the info can be of use to you, and good luck!

Hey Clint97, nice avitar! ;)

And David, I'm happy to hear that things may work out favorably soon...

My story is similar, yet different...

On my birthday last year we received two Randall 'Clinton special's' from top RMK dealer Tom Clinton...we'd ordered one. So, the next morning I called Tom and thanked him for the 'gratis' birthday present...

There was a bit of a pause, and then "Oooh, so that's where that other knife went..." Well, I shipped it on for Tom, and made another fellow's day...never thought to mention it again.

Tom, soul dude that he is, has repaid my honesty many times since...

It's cool to be fair...it sucks to be a thievin' bastard!

Mel

p.s. For Wolfmann..."Mummy, why does that man have a bulge in his sock?" "It's ok hon, it's just his balls..."

I got 215.00 USD (out of 230.00) so I can call it a success. It took some time but the person actually kept his word. I thank you all for your support.
