Derrick, you and GEC have put together some really great larger knives, like the Madison Barlow. But there are very few good small knives in production these days. Here is an example. Synthetic covers, blades 2 inches or less in length, this one manufactured about 1940.
I think there is a void, a niche, a market for smaller knives like this little coke bottle jack. I can see it now, with a little arrowhead shield...
What an awesome giveaway. I'd really like to see 3 knives from you guys. First, a full sized toothpick, the 5" size. Now add a scaler blade on to it and make an awesome fishknife...that's number 2. Lastly, a full sized sunfish, 4" closed, nice wide spearpoint blade with a swedge, which you could made as a 2 blade with a pen on the other end, or a split backspring whittler if you wanted to add a coping blade or small sheepsfoot. Add some popcorn stag, nice jigged bone, or some of that great wood you show in the opening photo, and you've got yourself 3 new winning patterns which I'm sure to have to buy even if I can't afford them.
Keep up the good work, you guys are really putting out some awesome cutlery. Oh, almost forgot, if you can put a convex grind on these things, I'll buy two
I would love to see a good old style locking pocket knife with a single 4" blade made out of some beefy stock. Similar to a #72 clip point blade but with 3/16" or 7/42" stock and locking.
Not trying to enter again... Because well I own the 2 blade barlow in blue camel #18.
Buuuuuut... Damascus? Would love a Damascus blade on sayyyyy green camel bone.
Mokume bolsters?
Thanks again for hearing out these pipe dreams!
(My father wants GAW knife so pick me me! Haha)
I'm in! Thanks for the opportunity. I would love to see more teardrop jack patterns, but specifically with steel bolsters and liners. I'm not that big of a fan of the look of brass liners and much prefer an even color along the back of the knife.
How about a 2 blade jack about the size of an electricians knife but with 2 large blades a large spear and a large wharncliffe blade that would be the perfect knife top it off with a durable material and bolsters.
I would like to see a NW rendition of the GEC pattern #15 (or something in similar size) in an EO configuration. Think it would be a absolute winner based on what I have observed and the difficulty in finding a GEC EO 15 scout model.
Thank you for the GAW. I would really love to see a Eureka Whittler like this (my all time favorite) Queen made (under Bill Howard's management) Winchester 3 backspring stag beauty, with a clip primary and a Wharncliffe and pen secondary.
Please forgive my horrendous drawing.... it's not that easy to draw on a cell phone!
This is a rough interpretation of what I would REALLY like to see.... A spear Coffin Jack at about 4". It's no secret that I would prefer GEC as the manufacturer.
Blade: Single spear with cut swedge and match strike crescent nick behind swedge. A blade very similar to what is on the 92 Talon.
Handle: 4" bare head with a long Barlow style bolster stamped with the Northwoods arrowhead.
Covers: Blue or green camel bone, Blood red jig bone (bear claw), Maroon linen micarta.
Half stop with a 6-7 pull.
