How good is Magnacut with the Busse heat treat? How does it compare to SR101, SR3V, and INFI?
 
I'm really not understanding the excitement over Magnacut. From what I read about it, it is a good steel that is tough while being (very?) corrosion resistant. That attracts me to it... not at all. I've never had a problem with either toughness of stainless steels I've used, or corrosion on tool steels I've used. So, OK, it does both in one. It's not something I'm going to buy, unless it happens to be the steel in a knife that I decide I want for other reasons. If Busse makes something in Magnacut that I like the design, I'll buy it (unless I consider it too expensive because it is in a new steel). But I'm not excited about Magnacut.

Let me ask it this way. Would you rather have Magnacut over INFI or 3V? And if so, why? What have you found lacking in one or both of those?

I'm not trying to troll, or put down your desire for Magnacut. I'm just not understanding. More for the sake of discussion than for anything. Maybe I came across wrong in the previous post.

Probably more because swamp rat was hyping it up, and then nothing. Not the first time that's happened.
 
It's a shame the swamp can't just roll steady and consistent.. NEW FANCY EXCITING always opens the door for some doubt and disappointment. In my opinion stop trying to reinvent the wheel and give us some nice users that fall in price and quality between the yard and the trough please !!

Ah... I guess that makes sense. I suppose there could be a couple reasons.
They could have figured out that it wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
It could have driven costs above that for INFI.
OR, there could be so much going on with the Bussekin family (and/or RATequila) that any new project has been put on hold for now.

I remember when the Rat Waki came out, they said there was a secret reason for the crescent pommel, and there would be a special attachment for it. Nothing ever came of that. And then of course the Busse folder.
