I had some sebenzas back in the day, a small classic and a regular large. I would consider buying another one, but I want to wait for magnacut blades. You know eventually it will be on CRKs but I wonder when?

Considering they just rolled out S45 I don't see it happening for quite some time.

They did a couple at Blade Show last year as exclusives with Larrin's glasses logo engraved on it. I doubt we'll see it as an upgrade any time soon. CRK does change, just not fast.

i spend a lot more on other knoves spread out, but i have a hard time shelling out 450 for one. If I do get one I want it to be one and done forever, so I’ll wait for magnacut

After listening to Tim talk about Magnacut not only it’s knife performance but the ease of machining it and getting the material to where it has to be seems very manageable for the CRK team. Tim also is working on the large additional space for workshop expansion. I foresee huge demand for Magnacut knives and after that is met they will probably whip out a new model or two to keep the larger workshop still working full time.

I hope you are right but with 16-18 months current backlog, I suspect it will be a bit even as they expand.

Those of you saying one and done, I'm guessing you haven't owned CRKs before. I once thought that was an insane amount to spend on a pocket knife. I now own 12 CRK folders.

Sebenza 35, anyone? How about Magnacut blade steel and a lock bar stabilizer? The perfect knife! I agree, though, that the next iteration is likely years away.

Oh, I think the 31 platform is well suited for a magnacut blade steel. No need to wait that long.

12-18 mouths I would say
They have already shifted their orders from s45vn to magnacut but they have to use the steel they already have I stock

I think that might be too late. Magnacut really seems to be a step up; waiting so long while this year more and more competitors are starting to use it would be bad for the quality perception of CRK. Also, Tim clearly stated that the ability to use one steel in the shop would have a big practical advantage.

waiting so long (…)
Well… take a look at a current lead time first. 20-24 months for standard / micarta inlay S31, even longer for fixed blades. If you order today - you’re going to get MagnaCut most probably ;)
