REVIEW TIME

BK5
First came the Kitchen use:

At first I thought what would I ever really need this blade for?
Well it kicked some ass in the kitchen, would also make a damn awesome BBQ Knife and Camp food knife.
Anyways here are some pics.

Lets make some chicken.

Trim it up/if I still worked at a meat company, I would make sure I had one of these blade for trimming

Well my thoughts are I'm gonna have to get me one of these blades....
I give it a 9.5 out of 10 for kitchen use and 5 out of 10 for outdoor use, its a damn nice blade.

Thanks for the passaround and I will sending it ASAP to the next person......

'bout time you did something with it :P

how would you compare it to a 7 in the kitchen?

Its seems more like the mean butcher knife to me, would I trade it for my BK7 (HELL NO) but If you planning on using the knife only in the kitchen then I say pick the BK5...

I am going camping for a couple days over the upcoming holiday. It would be sweet to have it then (although probably won't happen)
Either way, Arkansas better prepare, cause the Ogre is border hopping.

If you get a chance beat it up some, I have been sneaking off to lay waste to a few small trees and some scrap wood from my properties siding project, and the 5 is alot tougher than you might think.
I had seen a few posts where people said work it out, its not a sissy so I have been trying.
So far not a mark, fold or chip and the edge is holding up nicely.
I didnt see it last night but I got a tiny edge roll from the 4x4 landscape log but it literally just rubbed right out with a pass or 2 from a small steel.
The dang edge still looks out of the box after that.
I am really impressed so far.
I am not going to take apart a mower or an AC or cinder blocks like we found out you can with a BK2, but this is shaping up to be a damn fine knife.

I will definitely put it through the paces, but since the knife is not mine, I won't be as brutal as normal. I was raised that you treat other people's property with more respect that you would your own. But I will still try to come up with some good tests. Extreme will be difficult, since breaking it would piss me off. That means I would have to buy a knife that I don't get to own. :)

Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait.......

I just got mine in today.........Oh em effin gee!!!!!!!!!!!!

The review on this thing is gonna be awesome!!!

I'm just gonna keep editing this post for all my review pix and what knots.

I don't see the big deal here folks. It's the same thickness as the clip point on a BK7.

It is so hard to show how awesome this knife is with just pix.....

Did I say that you need to get one of these if you don't have one already??? Well you do!!!! Get one!!!! Get one now!!!!!

I know you don't have any money..... I don't care...... go rob a liquor store (j/k don't really do that)

But really though this really is a great and awesome and kick ass knife!!!!!

Like the man himself said; at least one person in the group should have one if you're out hiking and camping.

EDIT.........MORE!!!!!!!

Ok so my son has been wanting to kine a lot recently so today we went back out to the river so he could play in the water. I decided to play with the BK5 some more to see what other camp activities it can do with ease :)

I wanted to compare it to an actual small buchcrafty knife so I brought the Condor Sapien along.
DSC08389.jpg

The test I wasted to do was to do a featherstick off. First up was the Condor.
DSC08390.jpg

Really nice easy to make feathers.

Then the BK5.
DSC08391.jpg

Pretty thick feathers.

Both
DSC08392.jpg

I kept practicing and found that it wasn't the tool but the technique.
DSC08395.jpg

So win win for both knives. :D

Then I decided to make a trap with the 5 to see how it did.

Pretty versatile knife we got here.
The BK5 does pretty much most all camp chores very well. Overall I would say this is a great camp and survival knife.
So if there is ever the question of 'One' again I will say the BK5 next time :D

Ok so excuse the crappy phone pics but here's some damage done to my newly retired coffee table, with the BK-5.
Also pics of the edge of the knife showing nothing but some coating wearing off..lol this knife is sexy.
I think this is definitive proof that it is a wood processing knife.

Table, and this is a well made coffee table here guys, no particle board, stained and poly, lumber.
My bad, I did see some particle board on the walls of the table.

The edge is still scary sharp, no rolls, no chips not even a light fold like the 4x4 caused.
The only signs that the knife has even been used is the coating is rubbed down a bit where the wood pinched the blade from entry and removal.
This is one of my favorite knives now.
