Just trying to get a semi-solid release date for the Magnum Warcraft Tanto? I see pre-orders at a few sites out there but I want to know approximately how long? Thanks

I emailed CS Customer Service in February and was told it would be released between "end of spring and end of summer."

I hope so!! Last time I spoke to CS at Cold Steel they mentioned it could possibly be by the end of 2014.

I was really impressed with the recent purchase of a Warcraft Tanto. I'm definitely interested in the Magnum Warcraft Tanto.

Has anyone heard anything more? I see some preorders. I have to say, $245 for a 12" 3v chopper with a nice G10 handle a secure-ex sheath seems like a great deal. Most 3v knives i've looked at in that size range cost near 2 times as much, (US made, of course.)

I'd definitely love to see this series in drop point and/or Bowies, tho- 3v makes a great woods knife, but Tantos usually don't...

I am the OP and I am still waiting for the magnum. I would also love to see other more practical blade shapes but I can deal with the tanto profile for now. I did pick up the warcraft tanto and it has a great feel and came very sharp.

I think for $160 it represents good value in a good size 3v knife.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing- but i also might go nuts and finally get a Busse.

$160 with the nice G10 and sheath is a bargain, imho. 3v is the only steel other than INFI, where i did serious chopping and have NO detectable edge wear after 45 minutes of work.

I hope they made a whole range!

I'm not into american tantos, but I am waiting for the magnum warcraft. On a blade that size, the tanto point doesn't really matter, and may actuall have some advantages. I'm wondering if the handle tang is tapered on the magnum version. Doesn't seem like there would be any point.

The tang is tapered on the 7" and I actually would prefer it full thickness and I think it will help with balance on the 12".

I agree with you Brummie on all your points. I don't mind the tanto tip and I the magnum version. I think it is beneficial, especially when it is nicely executed as it is.

I am still waiting (not so patiently) LOL

I agree. I think the tapered tang on the Warcraft is one of the minor flaws on the design; making the blade unnecessarily tip heavy (good for chopping though). I hope CS go with full thickness tang on the Magnum.

Brummie, i'm with you, man. I have never bought a Tanto, but the .magnum may be my first. Gosh i'd live a drop point & clip point version!

I don't mind tapered tangs as long as the balance is good. The Browning Barker/Crowell chops incredibly well for such a lightweight knife. A lot of guys see the tapered tang as a mark of quality. I'm sorta indifferent unless it affects strength.

But i see the Warcraft series as a more affordable competitor to Busse, Fehrman, etc, where strength is perhaps more important than anything else. I'd also love to see them go the opposite way, and make something like the Master Hunter w/ G10 and 3v.

So, we've been waiting patiently - are we ever going to see this knife? It doesn't seem like there are many retailers who are anticipating it.

Knifecenter has it listed as "coming soon" but it's been there for awhile. I noticed my post from above when I contacted customer service over a year ago.
Why can't Cold Steel give us an update on this?

Yeah, the Midway email stated 231.99 and when you click the link it is $260. The "big river" site had then delivered for $230 and I snagged one.
