Magnussen's forge

Tal and Rick like to yank each others chains. Tal gets excited too quickly and therefore it always appears that he is yanking Rick's chain for much longer :D

Well.... you know..... the longer the chain........

Ken
I don't know what to say... This write up is WAY beyond what I was expecting. I figured it would go something like...

"I was hanging with Rick last night. We drank some beers, ate some pizza... then he dropped a hot blade on my new gloves and burned the $#!T out of em! He felt bad and gave me a pity knife, the end."

.... but THIS is very generous of you, my friend. I think I got the better end of the deal... lol.

You are welcome to drop by, anytime. Beer and pizza on me!

Great picture's kgd, And thank's for the Great Review on Rick's Work, Them Step by Step picture's are Excellent, I've been through the Wilder Tool's Web-Site 101 Time's just look through his Gallery of Past Project's Click on each one on the left side of the screen, And you can tell Rick Is on his way to being an ABS Master Blacksmith, But I know I sure like his Knive's & LeatherWork "Real Work's Of Art" !

Thanks, BonbeFobic1992.... it was a good time.

To all of the "clean shop" comments.... It's not always like that... I was expecting a guest, so I picked up a bit.

Good story! I admire Rick's skills and his products. I can't afford them right now, but someday I want some of his stuff. That knife Snake Dr has in his post is on the definite list. Is that the parang?

Great write up Ken.

And Rick, I found out TF's address and we're good to go  ..............ooops! :o

Doc

Yup... I have his addy too, ol chum...

The fool put a return address on a box of dog doo he once sent me. The UPS guy refused to follow the instructions of setting it on fire at my front doorstep. That was his first mistake... never use UPS for international shipping.

This is a really excellent article. Pictures are of great quality and very well written. Could be in a knives magazine

Good job and an interesting read! The shop and the knife making process is well presented.

Magnussen, you do mma?

PatriotDan... Thanks.

As for mma. Not so much... I'm all soft and cuddly these days. No more tough guy... only "tough to look at", now... lol.

Rick

Glad to see this thread took off! I intentionally wrote it more magazine style, hoping to spurn some more thought into the 'Interviews with W&SS Maker's thread not too long ago. It really was a fantastic experience to watch the blade being made and it was hard not to zero in on that as the central thread topic.

Jiimi - you won't have to worry about me as competition. The one thing I learned about myself during my awkward adolescence is what I can and can't do, and that kind of patience and detailed work isn't something I can do! Would love to see your shop sometime. For those of you who don't know Jiimi, he put out a couple of those big parang style knives too!

Excellent job Ken and enough can't be said about Rick's awesome work.
I hope this is just the first of many more interviews of the great makers on this forum.

Wow, that was an awesome read. Thanks Ken for putting together such a great glimpse into Rick's operation. Thanks to Rick as well, for letting Ken share your shop and processes with us. I'm sure I speak for many when I say I can't wait to see more!

Helluva write and intervue Ken!

One day, you'll see my name on his order board..... I HOPE
