Kershaw made the Offset 1597 MIT-e knife.

If you want the technology now, you can find them on the bay, run a few hundred bucks.

I've got no idea what is still under NDA, but I saw things on those jobs that I still have not seen anywhere else. Or frankly anything that could be seen as from the same generation of technology. "MIM" was always the process they were comparing against. I was just electrical support for the prototype fleet, so I could be mistaken, but a lot of their literature and presentations were contrasting this technology from MIM.

Any latest guesstimations when these are shipping? My order from a year+ still shows as "processing" and the Magpul website is no help...
 
Got an email from BladeHQ yesterday saying the Magpul Breslau was being dropped. They will be giving some points if you didn't cancel your preorder.

Booooooooooo.

I was holding out hoping they could got over whatever legal or manufacturing hurdles that were still holding them back.

Oh well. :(
 
It's a real shame. Would have liked to see the tech have its day, even if it completely failed. Just imagine if it worked as well as they claimed, though.

But was it done well? Was it an enticing design? Was the steel worth a darn? Was the action "meh" at best? I've never seen or held one so I can't say anything about them and they seem to be rare so I doubt I ever will.

I've been a bit of a Magpul nerd since they flooded the market with crazy affordable highly functional magazines years ago. I became a fanboy because it felt like they were the first thing to finally drive down prices to reasonable from anyone else trying to compete. I still have a bucket of Pmags. It's still hard to justify buying anything else.

Now they're going to make a knife??? Sure, why not???

The Kershaw Offset hit the market back around 2007. Pretty sure they hold the patent still.

Magpul should've partnered with Kershaw to produce the knife. Sucks that it ended up this way.

The Offset kinda reminds me of a Warthog. Some are a thing of beauty, some are.... not so much. 😉

Ugh. The tip down only era. I don't miss those days. Didn't know it was MIM 440C. Is that sort of like gen 1 particle metallurgy? I have no idea how long spray forming or whatever was going on. Interesting.
