deusker, mfaster7... Thank you!! :D:thumbup:
mfaster7, reply sent. :thumbup:

Also... I believe that Tony G's fluffier cat is a Maine Coon cat, but I'm not a 100% on that... LOOKS like one. :)

Please don't misconstrue this as negative. But my opinion of domestic felines has always been less than low. That being said, you folks show some passion and care for your cats and other domestics. My opinion is changing rapidly in regards to cats and some of their people. Thanks.

You may be correct. Forest Cats and Maine Coons do look very similar

The big gray cat is a Main Coon. He is about 26 months old now so he'll grow for about 10 more months.

mymindisamob:
A long time ago I lived in an 18 unit condo building and I had this great cat Stuart that use to go on walks with me. The problem was that he liked to jump out my window and make his way into the court yard and then some resident would let him into the common area of the building. Of the people that lived there all but two knew him and would let him into their units. The two that didn't were a couple (Ed & Jane) that told me that they hated cats and were allergic to them and found him being in the common area offensive. So we all tried to get him out of common areas when he was there. So fast foreword about 5 years and the cat dies; I post a note in the lobby to “friends of Stuart” that he had passed.

A day later I get a note from Ed and Jane that said that over the years they had come to love that cat so much that they would both pound down antihistamines and let him come into their apartment to sleep in a sunny window. It turns out that he’d just keep following them up the stairs and then run into their apt. he just broke them down.

Anyway I think it is just a matter of exposure. If you spend time around the right one you’ll see that they are nice animals. Me…. I find that I like all animals no matter.

OH one thing about Stuart... true story: I was showing my dad that he would follow me on walks and this woman came to a balcony of a large home and yelled for him. She noticed me and asked if it was my cat and so over the next several months we’d talk when I walked by if I saw her. It turned out that she was living with Arty Mitchell of the Mitchell Brothers Theater (she was the star of Behind The Green Door II) and that leads to ALL kinds of stories that Progunner isn’t going to let me tell here. :p :thumbup: It turns out that Stuart was getting aorund!!

His name is Max or maybe Maxx.

Ken,

Mine is named Max also (really Maxwell). As you can see he kind of tense... he needs to mellow out!

Tony,
Thats one cool cat. Guess we both say the same word alot.... my daughter named ours when we found him about five years ago.

And I thought my Max had some long hair:eek:

OK I'm drinking to Stuart and all the people he caused me to know... especially women:thumbup:

No this is not being negative at all. I had nothing but dogs for most of my life, I did not dislike cats at all but did'nt think I would have an indoor cat.
When we rescued the cat my daughter really wanted to keep it... I was not crazy about the idea at the time but in the past 5 years I have come to love our cat and all his crazy ways. I'm sure I will always keep a cat now....well it may think its keeping me.

You will prob never have a cat, but if your view of cats and there people are changing for the better that is great I think. I appreciate your honesty.

I can't donate right now due to my budget constraints. I was laid off as an LEO in Jan, and we are living off my Military retirement, and my 8 1/2 month pregnant wifes part time income. I truly appreciate what you are doing. After I retired from the Navy, and before becoming a police officer, I worked as an animal care specialist, working up to becoming an animal control officer. Nothing can make me ever forget all the dogs cats birds and livestock that were euthanized. I had to hold thousands of them as they died. In order to continue upward mobility, I had to certify euthanasia. I support no kill shelters, but only if they are operated by trained and knowledgeable staff. I have a no kill shelter here in Troy MT, that is operated by neither. Unfortunately anyone who has worked in the animal industry quickly discovers that it is something that generally wealthy women try to become involved in for status. Their function is strictly social, and they rub elbows with their rotary club friends. I have witnessed cats living in a pack. All of them with ring worm, and URI. I have seen the same dogs in the shelter for over 6 months. I have done my share of fostering to help these animals.
This is generally the way it is everywhere. Without proper funding. These animals don't stand a chance. Kill or no kill/
Good luck on your fund raiser. Thank you for being another animal lover. There aren't enough of us...Remember, Spay and neuter your pets!!!

Big Ed

No worries, ragingwolf66, thank you for your words, and support, may others read your post and understand the problem from your angle. I hope you find a great new job soon! :thumbup: :)

mymindisamob, I understand. I grew up with dogs, and after my own dog passed many years ago, a cat befriended me and showed me a whole other side to the feline race. :D Watch out, one day you're petting a cat, the next... you're owned by one! ;) LMAO... Well, mebbe not, but they do tend to grow on ya. :thumbup: My four are all very different, but with much personality and love.

I can swing a pledge for a great cause such as this.

Thanks for doing this Jaxx:thumbup:

A cat that was thrown out on our road, he now has a good home with us. His name is Max or maybe Maxx.

You guys rock! :thumbup: I will be wanting to post the chosen organizations for all donors' consideration before any money is sent to me. :thumbup: I'll have this up hopefully before BLADE or right after, and then I'll post some donation options for y'all once the chosen are listed.
~~~
To All Interested:
I am still interested in learning about any worthy not for profit/non-profit Org.'s that fit the criteria below. :D I'm looking to keep the list short in order to make more sizeable donations. I'm still seeking any recommendations for national or local...
A.) catch & release (and/or adopt) spay & neuter Org.'s
B.) A 'no-kill' cat & dog shelter or 2.
C.) A 'no-kill' exotic pet, (i.e. reptiles, birds, larger mammals, etc.) shelter or 2.
Feel free to post your recommendations here. Contact info for your recommended Organization will be helpful if you have it handy. Thanks! :thumbup:
As I said to Progunner when he was going to do something like this... "you are doing the work so it is your call".
Most worthy ones will probably be more localized, so I figured that if anyone had some knowledge on one, they could post here, otherwise, LOL, I'll be posting some as I find 'em. I'm just lookin' for some input. :D :D :thumbup:
look up Kootenai pets for life. They need all the help they can get. They are no kill, and are located in Troy Montana. If you can do something for them, let them know its because of the officer formerly known as T-5....thanx jaxx
Thanks, Jaxx! :thumbup:
