Maker's mark... maybe?

I've ordered the pieces and parts to build an electro-etcher per Chris Crowford's plans. So now I've started toying with maker's mark ideas.

What do you think of this one?

Scale should be 1:1.

I have a thing for calipers... must be the engineer in me.

Doesn't it show up? Are you getting a little red "x"? I canceled my Comcast account and have transfered my photos over to Picasa for hosting. Is anyone else having trouble seeing the little picture?

For some reason I can see it on my computer (PC) and my wife's computer (mac) but I can't see it on my iPhone. I wonder of only some browsers have trouble viewing Picasa links?

I can see it now (Mac) and I like it too.

Do you know offhand about how much it's going to cost to build your etcher?

Thanks. Seems to me that it should be simple enough to etch cleanly. I wanted to keep it mostly rectangular so it can easily fit in the ricasso are or other blade flats. The version shown is appox 0.75" long. I think that I may even be able to get a version around 0.5" that will etch with a clean stencil.

Does anyone have a problem with the caliper imagery?

Thanks... seems like Ernie is known 'round these parts for a quality product. I'll definitely drop him a line.

Sorry Erin , but I don't like it , you asked and of course this is just me but I don't think most people even know that a set of calipers is needed to make a knife , hell 1/2 of them don't even know what they are .

Why would he want a body fat measurer on his knife :p

(I secretly do know what calipers are)

Thanks for the feedback and no need to be sorry. You really think that half the knife world doesn't know what calipers are? That makes me sad. Maybe the folk that don't know what calipers are will just think it's a dragon (kinda looks like one to me) :p

I get the pipe-wrench to knives corelation... No but seriously I think it's cool. When I was a kid there was a car dealership called Precision Toyota. They used micrometers to form the "P". For the longest time I thought it was an oil filter wrench.

Not being hard on ya either, BUT......

I would just use your name, a cleaner simpler mark.

Forget the calipers. - Just your name.

Good luck.

Sorry I didn't get back to this question earlier...

I purchased everything (except alligator clips which were out of stock) from Radioshack per Chris Crawford's webpage. I used his part numbers exactly. Total cost shipped was $64.85. I picked-up the alligator clips from HF for $2.

I think half the fun will be building it.
