Maker's Mark

Gotta love the Rip Van Winkle Bourbon, great stuff. I'll have to look for the Rebel Yell next time I'm out.

Maker's Mark is probably my favorite for sipping out of the bourbons. I've heard of the 46, but still haven't tried it. Going to make that something of a priority now.

Some of the Jack Daniel's Gold Medals were good for sipping.

makers mark is good stuff, just checking, where does oban scotch fall in place for good scotch?

Oban is good scotch. My favorite is Glenfiddich 15 or 18 (above that the price gets a bit harsh).

I'm becoming fond of Elija Craig, but then admittedly I live in a fine spirits wasteland! ;)

I know, Phoenix/Scottsdale is not too far away, butit is damn hot down there in the Valley!

Never heard of the stuff. :p

Try some cheap old Rebel Yell bourbon. . . It is AWESOME!!!!

I still shudder when I think of a certain "Rebel Yell" party back in college. :eek:

All this nonsense when we all know that Pappy is best. Can't beat the 15yr for the price/performance ratio.

I want to score a couple of bottles of Pappy 15 this year. I've heard from several folks now that it's the best bourbon for the price point from this maker.

Last year, I grabbed the last two bottles of Van Winkle at my local spirit supply house.

That's what I'm talking about, I have a bottle of the Special Reserve on the right. Some of the smoothest, tastiest bourbon I've ever had. Admittedly, it is also the most expensive bottle of bouron I've bought to date, not to say that I keep my eyes peeled for some older RVW....

I went out yesterday and bought a bottle of Maker Mark 46 and a bottle of Rebel Yell (because of this thread). I haven't opened the 46 but the Rebel Yell is good stuff. I'm typically a Vodka drinker, I'm trying to like Bourbon...

If you like Vodka you should try Titos Handmade from Texas! Damn that's some great vodka! Six times distilled, one more than Stoli Elit and only for $17.00! But the 46 is incredible, I don't normally drink bourbon, but I love MM 46.

My absolute favorite whiskeys of any sort (always in stock at my house):

* Pappy Van Winkle 15yr Bourbon
* Van Winkle 13yr Family Reserve Rye
* George T. Stagg Barrel Strength Bourbon
* Thomas Handy Barrel Strength Rye
* Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon
* Baby Sazerac 6yr Rye
* Van Winkle Lot B 12yr Bourbon
* Wild Turkey Rare Breed (Barrel Strength) Bourbon
* Booker's Barrel Strength Bourbon
* Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon

I enjoy several others also, but those are what I've settled upon as "my drinks" after much experimentation over the years. I've stopped buying anything else for home.

Experiment and find what you like... there are lots of choices, and some of my favorites aren't the most expensive ones (Elmer T Lee and Baby Saz most notably).

Cheers.

Hmmm, I will definitely have to give that a try. My Svedka may get jealous though.:D

Rebel hell no ! thats a rough road right there. Goerge Dickel white label is the way to fly.Im fond of rare breed and single barrel jack too,any of the barrel proof stuff is pretty good. If you want the really good stuff ....its up in them mountains of N.C. If you aint ever drank any homemade rye ,or blueberry lightnin fresh out of the freezer straight out of the mason jar on a hot july day ................well ,your missin out.

I just cracked open the 46, wow. It is much smoother than the Rebel Yell.

how about a passaround? ;)

you can mail "water samples" around the country in nondescript bottles without issue...

I have a good story about Ridgemont Reserve 1792 bourbon. Earlier this year, my dad told me that he liquor store had it for less than $20 a bottle. I told him to buy a couple of bottles for me. When I was there last month, I discovered that he bought ten bottles for me. I brought them back to California. I have gone through two bottles thus far. Great stuff.
