Making handles for my BK 2

Coke a Cola reveals the secret formula folks ! (LOL) Thanks.

Is that what's on those Burl Wood handles you posted a while back too ?

Nice finish if it is.
Thanks again.
Yep that's the finish I put on that birdseye maple/ Hudson bay knife.

I got to thinkin about your wood being teak and I'd be inclined to cut the linseed & Tung 50% with turpentine to get it to penetrate deeper. I realize you did it already but next time.
That'd be 25% /25% / 50%
I also will dip the wood in the sauce after warming it up and then let it soak overnight.

Yeah, the Dremel is a cool little tool. Helps with the small $hit.

Will work on the "secret sauce". Got another project in the works. Same wood.
Had a nice stick of it. It's going pretty far. (less the screw ups) LOL

Anyway - thanks for your input too.

Cool!

This is my BK2, there are many like it but this one is mine. I am nothing without my BK2 my BK2 is nothing without me.

This is a great thread with some great ideas. Here is a method for "poor man's stabilizing" wood handles that I've used for years with good success.

Mix boiled linseed oil with mineral spirits 50/50 in a glass jar with a lid. Toss in the handles, fill the jar to the top, lid it up and let them soak for as long as you can stand it. A week isn't too long. Turn the jar upside down every day or so since the end grain will be soaking up the oil. Take them out, let them dry for a day or two then either a couple of coats of Tru-Oil gunstock finish or simply wax and buff. Purty wood. Try it, you'll like it.
