Thanks for the link . Good definitions . The alternating X type is what I had been thinking of ! I should get an SEM.
I also have been thinking of a butchers steel an alternating X type with soft steels where the strokes work harden the edge and straighten any burr.
 
Wow. I am really impressed with the fortitude you have to demonstrate the grippy handle - I was cringing the whole time even though I knew you would be fine. Pretty impressive that the handle provides so much grip with a very simple profile.

Haha thanks brother but it's not the handle that has the grip, its how the users grips it. Just hold it like a firm handshake and it's not an issue. Especially for actual Bushcraft use.

The handle shape is very comfortable

Which means you can grip it tighter.
