First time post but long time "lurker" here reading and learning everything I can from all the knowledgeable folks that post/share here everyday.

I'm assuming the Mammoth inlay is an option that was available only for a short time as limited edition pieces (what year(s) would that have been?).

Or was it listed as the other inlays are today, on there web site, to just order as you wanted for several years?

I guess I am very intrigued and fascinated with the concept of owning a knife with prehistoric ivory inlaid in it and was curious if this would be made available again someday or just on the after market at increased rates?

I guess they could go buy another mammoth tusk and cut it up to make more if they wanted?

Sorry for my lack of knowledge and would love to hear from anyone that might actually carry one and even see some pic's of how it is wearing with age.

Thank you in advance for any feedback!

They were not limited editions in general though there may have been some runs. They usually came out in large batches where the bigger dealers would have 20 or more to pick from and they usually went quickly. Because of the unique nature of the ivory each one was different.

I believe there was some US law change that made it illegal to I believe sell even mammoth ivory which is why I don't think you will see Another run.

The main reason I never bought one was the ivory yellows with handling and in some reports just time.

My dealer would have them in the $800 range if that matters.

It was an inlay option available in the Classic MM and 21 until not too long ago(presume the last of the back orders have been filled at this point). It was also available in some of the Annual runs of Regulars. You could order it direct or buy from a dealer.. What I heard was they were having problems with obtaining Mammoth ivory and bark. That may have had something to do with legislation as mentioned above(not sure). I have only had one example, but have admired so many owned by others. I just love the look of the bark and there is also some appeal to owning something 10,000 years(variable) old.

I just found a new Mammoth Ivory / Raindrop Damascus Sebenza 21. online that I bought today. $815. It was the only one I could find.

AS per a dealer CRK no longer will use Mammoth Ivory in inlays. The dealer even offered to supply the Ivory and they said no.

Not anymore they can't. Once their stock is gone that's it, no more mammoth. Best to get while the getting's good.

Thank you all for the replies and congrats on finding one for sale joesuburb.

Would love if you'd share pic's when it comes in!

It sounds like there is a decent amount in circulation at least so i'll keep an eye out for someone wanting/needing to sell and perhaps get lucky.

First time I remember seeing mammoth on a sebenza was with the Annuals and I fell in love but they're so hard to get.

Very nice dinokay.

The first time I saw an ivory I said to the guy showing it.

SOLD!!

Then I flipped it over and saw the blasted section and for some reason I couldn't warm up to it. I have no idea why the contrasting finishes remain on the inlayed knive.

That's the reason I only have micarta inlay.

I just can't get over it.

Somehow the mnandi suits it so much better.

Dinokay those Mnandis are beautiful! The Mammoth Bark Annuals are so hard to come by indeed.. and they don't come cheap either...

I've always been a big fan of mammoth, a shame CRK discontinued offering it.

They're not as beautiful as the annuals but the 21's are not that bad.

Good Luck in your Quest Bear-down.

You all make me SICK!!!!! Hahahaha!

These knives are off the hook beautiful! You all need to share the love!!!! (Of course I couldn't afford one anyway!)

So my mammoth Seb 21 showed up today. Not a bad collection since I only purchased my 1st this month, LOL
