Man-Woman-Wild.......CRAP!

Ok so I am going to get on the soap box here and gripe about this new "survival" show, and see if anyone else has the same views.
First off I understand the need for ratings and that the ex-special forces dude married a hot TV anchor and he is going to take her in the bush and teach her what he knows. (The first time I saw Mr. Hawke was on an episode of Bizarre Foods on the Travel channel. He was the "expert" that taught Andrew Zimmer how to get along in the bush. It took Mr. Hawke 60 min to build a fire with a flint and all the tinder you could imagine.) Sorry just remembered that.

Anyway he sets up each episode my saying that this could happen to anyone and we will be using the items we have with us. Well the episode in the swap where they had a parachute accident.....He and his wife both had huge bowie knives strapped to thier legs. Like that is a normal thing to have when you tandem jump.

Then in Africa, after they steal from a loin kill they hang the meat 4 feet off the ground, and are surprised when the hyenas take the meat in the night.

I am all for shows that educate about survival but this seems to be pure fluff. Just my thoughts.

Dude that is freakin hilarious!

Seriously I take ALL of these shows for what they are at face value. I like watching them as I usually learn some little tidbit if info in every show like something about the indigenous wildlife and plants that could be of use. I just wish they would give out more actual info about the travel distance and times and show how far they made it in a day and stuff like that. How much water did they actually make and drink that day, etc?

But like almost all of these shows, they just are shows, and not real. But then again, In a REAL survival situation 99% of the time you would never have a camera to film it.

I agree with Swamp, its just a show like any other and someone in a real survival situation would most likely not have a camera to film it. It still is more entertaining for me to watch than most of the other crap on tv. What else would I watch? Spongebob Squarepants? lol[/QUOTE]

Hey, I've got a 4 year old.....spongebob's not too bad either!

I remember that same episode. I was watching it with family, and I could be mistaken but I think that 'expert' also had some training school because my brother said at the time that the show was on that it would be fun to attend. I told him that there was absolutely no way I would attend a school given by that guy as he is obviously incompetent and misrepresenting his survival 'skills'.

I usually find myself laughing at it. The one episode they even got sick and had to be evacuated. lmao. Its a poor attempt at a survival show but entertaining nonetheless.

I wish it were on now, I am sick of Marathons of "The Little Couple" and "Biker Build Off"...

Give me Myke Hawk!

or better yet new Dual Survival!!

The show was mildly entertaining, enough to watch the end of eposodes and keep from changing the channel if I caught it on. However, I'd never tune into it directly, as I can't stand the dude's fuggin' voice. Cool concept, though.

Anything that turns my wife from "Why the f#&k would you want go sleep outside?!" to "I could do that better than her, we should try that." (she's highly competitive) is gold in my book. Now for that Woman vs. Wild video mentioned earlier...:D

I've always liked watching Survivorman the most. It wasn't as fast-paced but it was WAY more authentic IMO. I don't like camera crews following people around pretending to be lost.

I find that taking television too seriously cuts dangerously into my reality time.
