Mandatory Snow Pictures

There is plenty of snow up here on the North Slope where I'm working right now and they frown on people carrying a fixed blade knife, so no Fiddlebacks for me until I get back home. Today is another warm day at 21 degrees. I will be glad when it decides to actually be winter again and get cold.

Lol 21 that's tropical for you guys. What's the average winter temps where you are? I know Alaska has a wide, varied range of climates that's why I ask.

We were at 8 degrees here this morning in NY. Only got about 4" of snow last night so that was pretty much like nothing happened. I've seen/been through much worse here just in the last two winters.

What kind of work are you doing?

Right now I'm at Prudhoe Bay / North Slope Oilfield by the Arctic Ocean. Usually this time of year we are around -10 to about -20, with windchill anywhere from -30 to -45. Sometimes it gets a lot colder than that. The worst windchill I've ever experienced was -96 during a nasty blizzard. I live in Anchorage and it's been around 0 to 20 degrees.

Out for a hike in the woods yesterday. I sure enjoy this time of year.

Man, my kids were very disapointed. We got very little snow. Mostly sleet. Still, they played in it and sledded down the hill by my house till it was mud. I wish they would have gotten a bit more to play in. Snow on the weekend is OK with me...

Bring em up, Andy.
While we only got about 6-8 inches, it's been cold as hell. As per our usual method, we loaded down a toboggan and walked it up and down our sled run to create a deep track. It's now a solid ice luge tube. 100 yards down, speeds that actually scare me a bit, and you'd better bail out before you hit the barbed wire fence at the bottom. Throw a runner sled on that thing and you can fly. The boys are building a ramp over the fallen pine tree today. I expect things are about to get interesting.

Come on!

Short return for me at the shop today!

Headed home to meet the heating & air guy ( with emphasis on HEATING). Damn thing decided to quit working this morning.:grumpy:

Look what showed up to my house today. Thanks Abe!

Nathan. First dibs on that spectacular lady finger if you ever decide you want to let it go.

Bob, rest assured, all kidding aside.

If it ever leaves me...it will go to you.

(Revision: Sorry Bob, but I remembered something. I only got the Lady we're talking about because of the remarkable integrity and generosity displayed by Peter. If I were to ever let this one go, I have to give him first shot. But no worries friend. You'd be next! And regardless, she's not going anywhere. She'd be one of the very last to go if it came to that.)

Thanks for remembering Tony, that is most gracious of you to offer me first dibs even if it is a long shot. She is a lovely Lady at that !
I'd be happy to add Bob to my "next of kin list" to keep the spirit of this forum alive.

I'll be up in Leadville, Colorado this weekend visiting my girlfriend's family. I'll be sure to post some snow pictures from up at 10,200ft. :D
