Mandrake Kryptek Commander

Awesome! I hope we see other Kryptek models soon, the Commander isnt my favorite (ducks for cover). I believe that color is the Nomad.

The names get progressively stupider and the prices progressively higher. As one guy said....why not Rabid Timberweasel X-treme Ops Tango-Dropper Pro. That should be worth at least $599.00 LOL

Not a fan I take it.

I'm a Knife fan, not a fanboy. I love knives, own around 100, just hate all the ridiculousness which seems to accompany them these days. To get my money...You don't need a "sexy" name or a desertion on how many martial artists, operators, or famous combat vets contributed to the design. Just a good, well designed knife constructed of top quality materials. Seems so simple...until the marketing dickheads become involved.

I understand what you're saying but in this case the knife is called Commander and the mandrake kryptek is actually what the camo pattern is called. Is the price higher than the standard model? Yes. Some things sell on exclusivity alone with no problem, this may be one, or not. The consumers will decide.

As far as a knife being good and we'll designed, if you have never held a Commander if you have the opportunity sometime check it out. Fits my hand like a glove.

I think Emerson makes knives designed to be used.
A knife, by any other name, is a knife. This is zen.

I'm sure it's very nice. Sorry if it appeared that I was deriding it, because I wasn't. .

Sorry, I may have missed it ichor, have you owned or held the commander and not liked it? I have to agree with a few of the comments above--the ergos are excellent on the commander. If not the commander, which Emerson do you prefer?

As for the new pattern--I think that if a Black/Grey/Blue color scheme was to come out with that reptilian-type configuration, I'd have to have one... a super 7 like that would very tough to resist.

I never got the appeal of the Kryptek scales, I always thought the black G10 & tan G10 was the most handsome and went best with the knives' lines.

Personally I'd love to see more varieties of blade finishes rather than more Kryptek patterns. I'd eagerly pay a premium for a beadblast or Boron-Carbide commander.

Yeah, never really understood the need for comments like that. Having been down to EKI, spoken with them on the phone, exchanged emails, and met face to face at a knife show a couple of months ago... there is no basis for derogatory or denigrating language. EKI actually does not do much (if any) advertising at all... if one knows their marketing message, it was likely sought out or spoken of by admirers of their products or those who manufacture and sell them.

I don't get the need --or joy-- that comes from hating on EKI. Just don't buy their knives, don't go to their site, etc... If this is just some general rant against marketing and advertising, then I guess so be it... but EKI is hardly the advertising powerhouse in the knife industry.
