Manganese on Shallow Hardening (Hamons)

Aldo, et al,
I am closely following this thread because of my interest in creating hamons, so count me in for an order.

Although a little late to the party, ;) for comparison sake here's a pdf that may be of some interest to the conversation. It shows a bit more detailed content of some of the Hitachi Metals Ltd., Yasugi Works, Japanese steels that have been mentioned.

" Specification of YSS High Class Cutlery "

Dave, from what I see the C125U is pretty damn close to the White #1.......or maybe the White # 1 comes close to the C125U. :) Either way, if it is available the next question would be "WHAT SIZE". This is usually where everything goes to crap. If it's Kitchen Cutlery we are after then I would suggest around .120.

On the Blue side 1.2519 has:
1.05/1.15 Carbon
.15/.30 Silica
.20/.40 Mang.
1.10/1.30 Chrome
.15/.25 Vanadium
1.20/1.40 Moly

I was told that the C125U is a stock item. Not sure on the other one yet.

I really like the .156 thickness you supply for the 1095 and 1084 Aldo. Sometimes the .125 feels a little limiting for some of the stuff I like to make.

I would be in, probably wont be able to get as much as some of the guys but would do my part, just noone mention anything to the wife :D
