Manix 2 110v LTWT - best cutting tool on the market?

All locks can fail. The cbbl is a bit more complicated than a liner lock or back lock. With this in mind, you buy a Spyderco because of the excellent warranty. Peace of mind that you can use the blade as it was intended.

I'm not really a steel junkie, but from what I understand, S90V is the steel everyone clamors for more than most any other (just from what I see). What's the differences between that and S110V besides them both being highly wear resistant? The most wear resistant steel I own is M4 and reprofiling can be a bitch. How much more would you say 110V is over M4?

I have one on preorder now from kc, they say more to be expected around 21st so I cant wait:D I dont mind the frn either, of course I would prefer g10 or cf but that would make it cost probably about $100 more since theres also the cost for machining the liners. FRN is plenty tough and functions like any good handle material should, it will be fun to try out such a lightweight knife, I mostly carry big heavy knives so more diversity is always fun.

If you lack the skill, understanding, patience, and proper tools for sharpening, 1095 will certainly be a challenge.

got one from Howe's same day I saw the topic over in the Spyderco forum :P
Should be here on Monday.
I'm excited to put this S110V to the test this summer along with the CPM-3V on my GSO10

Both these steels are new to me and I have high expectations :)

My Manix2 Lightweight CTS-BD1 is very smooth in operation. It's a pleasure to open and close. The ball bearing lock seems like a good design.
I've wondered of the durability of the polymer cage that houses the ball bearing. However the only report of a broken cage I've seen was from someone who disassembled the knife. It would be interesting to see a video of someone dropping the knife for testing - any volunteers? :)
I've grown to really like Spyderco's FRN knives. It's a great material for knife scales.

I recently dropped my XL from chest height onto the kitchen floor (luckily with the blade closed). The stem that goes inside the spring of the lock broke free from the cage, the lock still functioned perfectly but it affected the smoothness of opening and closing the blade. Spyderco sent me a replacement cage for free and I repaired it myself, felt great to fix it myself, despite voiding the warranty I gained more confidence this being my first dis assembly of a folder.

I got my shipping notice from KC for my Manix 2 S110V today that I pre-ordered on the 12th.

I ordered one from KC today myself, and just to make it more exciting I also decided to order the BD-1 translucent blue Manix 2 with it.

Funny, I didn’t even know I wanted a Manix2 in s110v until I read this post. I really have to stop reading posts like this. Ma...the meatloaf! F#@%!

To the other people that got one...how sharp was yours out of the box? All my other Spydercos have been extremely sharp, but I got this one today and it's honestly one of the dullest knives I've ever gotten from a major production company out of the box. I mean, all my other Spydercos, all my Cold Steels, all my Kershaw/ZTs, most of my Condors and Kabars, all my SAKs and Moras...I've even had gas station knives come sharper than this one. Did you other guys who got one of these have yours come this way too, or did I just have the misfortune of getting one that wasn't given a full sharpening along the line?

Does this have the stepped bushing pivot (ie, non-adjustable tension) of the regular Manix2?

Mine is shaving sharp.

Not a fan of FRN. Kind of starting to want one, anyway. Next thought: I'd probably still carry my Manix 2 G-10.

Well, good to know it's not a thing, and mine just seems to be a one off at least.

Exactly what you're describing happened to me when I bought the Forum Native 5 in S110V. Turns out it wasn't actually dull, it just had a massive burr along the edge. I put a microbevel on it and it was good to go. Maybe that is whats happening to you, as my S110V Manix came very sharp.
