Yeah odd choice to go with the black cage with the silver hardware. Seems like clear woulda been the better choice, but who knows, maybe they quit ordering the clear cages since the blue and black translucent Manix 2s aren't selling as well as the others?
 
Aren't all the cages black now? There was a problem at one point long ago where there were people reporting breakage with whatever the clear cage was made from.

Sounds right to me, every new model of Manix 2 that has come out has the black cage...
If the black plastic is stronger than the clear, then I'm 100% fine with it being black. Black matching hardware woulda been nice though :P

I don't care either.

I could suggest that anyone that doesn't like the color of the cage could send their knife to one of the members that are not able to get one, then they could buy a black/black version.

Suggestions for possible improvement of the aesthetics of the knife do not necessarily imply that one is unhappy with it or willing to part with it. ;)

I put a 30 degree inclusive edge on mine and slayed a 3 subject notebook filled willed with lead, staples, and other crap after a semester of MV calculus. Probably 300+ pages!

Eric Glesser's gonna get a kick out of this one. "Why is the button clear? I wish it was black :cool:". He obliges and does so with a stonger polymer for the black button... And now it's "Why is the button black? I wish it was clear :cool:". Even if he makes it 600 black 600 clear on the next Manix sprint, some are gonna say... "They missed the ball on this one, it should have been glow in the dark duh :cool:".

Mmm...I'm kind of hoping I don't stumble across one of these in stock. I don't really need this knife, I'm not a huge fan of the manix design (I like it ok, just don't love it), and I have already spent too much money on knives this year. Having said all that, I believe this is the prettiest Spyderco I have ever seen. Seriously. I'm not usually influenced so much by aesthetics and I am still going to try to be pragmatic and resist...but damn this is a fine looking knife!!
 
Is anyone else's lock really tough to disengage? I'm no noob to this lock type, but this particular one is hard for me to disengage...I'm hoping I just need to break it in

That's funny, I'm hoping the same thing. I almost stumbled on it a few times now. Really close yesterday from Howes.

Hahaha...yep I have barely dodged a couple of bullets...convinced myself to buy but was too late. I need to stop checking this thread!! :rolleyes:
 
There's a source I cannot mention here (not a BF dealer) with great pricing and quite a few in stock. PM me. I've purchased from them in the past.

EDITED TO ADD: They're Out of Stock now. They had 14 as of 11:15am Pacific Time.
