I have been on vacation fishing with no cell phone or computer for the last week.I left when BBS was the only dealer offering them.It looks like the first batch of the 1200 has released to multiple dealers while I was salmon fishing.I sure hope I snag one on the next batch. The Manix is one of my favorite Spyderco platforms and I really like Cruwear for my uses.Cruwear is good stuff in my book.....

I have never heard of Cru-wear until I saw this knife. After looking in the zknives.com Knife Steel Database for Cru-wear, there is no listing for similar/like/comparable steel. Its made by Crucible, and only list some proprietary Carpenter steels. I'm sure the alloy is adequate, I'd just like to know what its closest too is all.

correct me if Im wrong(anyone), but I believe the cruwear formula was tweaked a bit to give us 3v..... so its in that family. while it doesn't have the same toughness as 3v its still plenty tough. My guess would be more toughness and resistance to chipping than cpm-m4 with edge retention like 3v..... between d2 and s30v. To my knowledge this steel also does best with a toothy working edge (400-600 grit). I would jump on one of these but I already have an s110v manix and I just can't get over the gray g10 getting dirty, someone told me to just dye the scales but meh. I may break and get one but I want to see how users like them first, because Im not as much a collector anymore :)

Mr.Clean Magic Eraser will clean grey G10 right up. I know because I had to clean my Jester's scales after I bought it. I haven't done my Millie yet though...I kind of enjoy watching them turn blue from my jeans :D

The SFO has a few left. Not sure if they are up on their Web site, therefore if you want one you better call.
