Same, it holds a good edge for people who don't shred 500 feet of cardboard everyday but just need something to cut with every once in a while, tough enough to not chip, and very easy to sharpen up unlike s30v. Wish spyderco would make this a production steel for that outdoors/simple carry knife.Between this knife and the Millie 52100, I’ve really taken a liking to this steel. It holds a great edge that doesn’t chip (for my use) and is so easy to maintain. I think the PM2 will enter the rotation too.
Wish they would too but “normies” would let it rust and return them right and left. Happy to keep the 52100 to the enthusinats.Same, it holds a good edge for people who don't shred 500 feet of cardboard everyday but just need something to cut with every once in a while, tough enough to not chip, and very easy to sharpen up unlike s30v. Aye, my 52100 millie has been brilliant as a normal EDC blade. I love knowing I can use it until it won't cut paper or cardboard...and it'll only be ~5 minutes of work with a stone to get it back to where it was. I've heard Spyderco apparently runs it quite hard - yet it's still comically easy to sharpen up. I have other knives in other steels that outperform it in every category, but for far more money in a similar size/quality of manufacturing. It's got personality, takes a beating without fuss and made me fall in love with the millie.
As another poster alluded to, 52100 wouldn't last long in a majority of knife users' hands. Fastest rust spot forming/patina-ing steel I've seen out of quite a few steels.
Though it sounds like this DLC is going to eliminate most corrosion problems 52100 can run into?
