Update.
Well, the knives arrived today - yes, plural. I didn't get anything fancy, in fact I wasn't going to get anything. A Zancudo ($26) triggered free shipping, and shipping was almost $7 ..so I justified it.
Anyhow, I opened the shipping package and handed my brother the Spyderco box and said "happy birthday
.early." He was playing with it all afternoon. It's badass and I kinda, sorta wish I had one in place of my PM2! The lock is way more functional than I expected, even right out of the box, and the weight is not an issue at all considering how it melts away into your hand. Very, very cool. He was excited, no doubt. So again, thanks everyone! It was a success.
I was not able to get a picture of the Manix, lol. I barely got a chance to play with it. But it's the black G10 Manix 2, FFG.
For the sake of it, here's a shot of the Zancudo I got for myself. It's pretty cool, very comfortable, easy to open, etc. I don't know if a frame lock is for me though, lol. It just seems like more of a PITA than a liner lock, although it just may need a little wear. My thumb certainly needs a break!
I bought it because it was red, and because the RAT II in green/satin was not in stock. I don't think I like it more than the RAT, but it feels a little more stout (heavier). Anyhow, I need more red knives.
