Manix 2 or Manix 2?

I have both a g10 manix and an s110v manix and man is that light thing sharp I really like the textured feel of g10 but because of all the jimping and traction of the frcp I don't miss the g10 and I really do like to edc it because it is more lightweight I never carry my g10 and carry my s110v and I've even bought two models of the bd-1 because the lightweight has grown on me so much.

I handled a regular g10 and a lw in a store a long time ago. Liked the knives, but thought the g10 was too heavy and the lw was too light (for me, for the size of the knife). I solved this dilemma by waiting for a sprint with skeletonized liners to drop, which turned out to be the Cruwear sprint in gray g10.

The Manix2 with G10 weighs 5.2 oz, and does not feel particularly heavy for its size (IMO)
The LW versions are about 3 oz, I believe.

This may depend on what a person is used to. When I got my first M2, the 154CM hollow ground model, it seemed heavy to me. I was carrying the Cruwear version this weekend and it seemed average weight to me. When I first handled the LW version I thought it was very interesting. I still carry my S110V version but sometimes I think the handle is too light for proper balance.

i just want to jump in mention that i see alot of folks either by mistake or out of ignorance state the Manix lightweight knife handles are made from FRN. the manix lightweight handles are made from a new material called FRCP, not FRN. they are quite different in weight and feel imho.

The standard LW models are FRCP, the S110V model is FRN. When the S110V version was released it was stated that it was FRCP but later it was stated to be FRN. There was discussion and argument about it on the Spyderco forum and Spyderco representatives confirmed FRN. I have handled the FRCP model a limited amount and own the FRN version. I couldn't tell any obvious difference. A lot of people owned the FRN version and were happy thinking it was FRCP before Spyderco confirmed it as FRN.

I prefer the g10 version, and honestly, I prefer s30v to s110v. I know you didn't ask this but I also prefer the pm2 to any of the manix models.

Oddly I sold my first PM2 because I felt the tip was too fine. I bought the M2 because I love the blade shape. Then I missed the PM2 and now own both. Love them. When the s110v LW FRN arrives, it will be easier to decide on which to keep. I'm thinking, how bad would it be to have two M2's anyway. We'll see.

Well the s110v arrived today. The weight is nice. The handles feel great. The s110v was more difficult to edge vs the s30v. I'm not happy with the grind lines on the s110v. Not consistent. The s30v G10 has a great blade finish. Ok I like them both. Owning two Manix 2's ain't so bad I suppose.

I've owned both. Sold the LW immediately. Felt too light-weight in my hands. Of course, it IS the LW model, but I want something a bit more substantial.

Report: I love the LW! I have other knives which fit several categories, but the LW FRN fits an edc/lightweight/hard use/non-gentleman roll. I own G10's, Titanium's and carbon fibres. This one rounds out things quite nicely!

Glad you are digging it!
It's my default "around the house" knife because I always have it in my shorts pocket. I don't even notice it's there
