Please forgive my poor memory, but I forgot the timeline for release of the new Manix. I think it may have been in "2005", or was it in October?

Great news. Even if it's November or December, it would still be in time for Christmas! :D

I just saw and fondled the Manix at the Spirit of Steel show here in Texas (about an hour ago as a matter of fact!) and it is really nice. I eagerly await it! :)

I can hear the collective wailing and gnashing of teeth at Spyderco Engineering already.

"Sal, you PROMISED you WOULDN'T do that again!!!!!"

;)

You've already put me in the poorhouse with my lust for every Y I can get my hands on.

Looking forward to the Manix. ;)

I read a description of it but I'd like to know more... can't we have a sketch, drawing or even better a picture? :)

I understand that it has a fully flat ground leaf shaped blade. My question pertains to the spine. Is it straight across the thumb hole or does it have a hump ala the Calypso Jr.? Any other details would be great :) Thanks.

IIRC, the spine was flat, no humb. ( I could be wrong however, I saw the proto somewhere in February)

I am eagerly awaiting the Manix. Can we get some specs to tide us over? Approximate blade length? Is it MBC rated?

Shootist16,

C95 Manix
The Manix comes with full double skeletonized liners in the handle bumping strength without adding weight. Blade is double flat-ground with thumb serrations above the hole for aggressive grip and control. Outstanding ergos result from a fore-finger choil allowing you to choke up on the blade and better manipulate the cutting edge. Smooth open/close action is due to the relationship between the blade’s weight, the lock’s shape and the spring’s strength.

- CPM-S30V blade is double flat-ground
- G-10 handle with dual steel
- 14mm Spyderco Round Hole
- Ambidextrous tip-up or tip-down
- Enlarged lanyard hole
- Made in Golden, Colorado

model MANIX C95
closed 5 1/16” 129mm
overall 8 3/4” 222mm
blade 3 3/4” 95mm
edge 3 1/4” 83mm

Same lock as Chinook.

Wow, that is nearly perfect. I think I'd prefer the Chinook II's handle shape but I'll know better when I get one. It looks like it will be my new end-all, be-all EDC.
