Manix?

I like that centofante III too....looks like a vesuvius with a lock-back configuration. maybe I should get one too...

Wow! Looks like a fantastic knife...sort of like an ultra heavy duty Military.

I've not been on BF for quite a while, and I come back to find a dream Spyderco!

I'm a big fan of my original Chinook, but have not had a chance to handle the II version. I also have a Lil' Temperance and love the blade shape. The Manix picks the best bits of two favourite Spydies and puts them into the Manix...

I'm already broke, stop doing this to me!! :p

Reminds me more of an extra heavy duty Calypso.

That is what it reminds me of also. I might have to sell my Calypso to buy a Manix. :)

Judging from the photo, the grip design on the Manix appears to be an improvement over that of the Chinook.

I found that the handle of the Chinook would slide back and forth a bit in my hand, despite being "locked in" on both ends to that the knife would never actually slip out of the hand. The obviously well thought out contouring of the Manix grip would appear to provide a completely "stable" grip.

The other thing that surprised me when looking at the photo is that despite being partially based on the Chinook, this knife looks quite utilitarian and innocent. That could be an advantage or a disadvantage, depending on what your goals are - but for most of us it is an advantage :) .

If the grip feels like the old REKAT carnivoure (sp?) It should be a real winner

I don't know about that "improvement."

The Manix looks really cool to me, and different.
The Chinook II, for me, feels like Spyderco borrowed my hand to use as a pattern for the Chinook II grip.
Also, the Manix does not have holes in the butt end of the grip for tip up carry.
The tip up or down doesn't matter so much to me, but the placement of the clip does.
A clip at the pivot end really annoys me; and I know that other folks couldn't care less.
So, for me, the Manix has a shortcoming based on clip position.
Did I mention the for me part? :)

The Manix has 4-position clip mounting like the Chinook II.

C95 Manix
The Manix comes with full double skeletonized liners in the handle bumping strength without adding weight. Blade is double flat-ground with thumb serrations above the hole for aggressive grip and control. Outstanding ergos result from a fore-finger choil allowing you to choke up on the blade and better manipulate the cutting edge. Smooth open/close action is due to the relationship between the blade’s weight, the lock’s shape and the spring’s strength.

- CPM-S30V blade is double flat-ground
- G-10 handle with dual steel
- 14mm Spyderco Round Hole
- Ambidextrous tip-up or tip-down
- Enlarged lanyard hole
- Made in Golden, Colorado

model MANIX C95
closed 5 1/16” 129mm
overall 8 3/4” 222mm
blade 3 3/4” 95mm
edge 3 1/4” 83mm
steel CPM-S30V
weight 6 1/8 oz 175g
edge types PE, CE

Here: http://www.newgraham.com/spyderco_manix.htm it says that the blade is 4" long and the open length is 9". Which is the correct lengths 3 3/4" and 8 3/4" or 4" and 9"?

First the Ladybug. Second, the Navigator. Next. the Native. Then the Military. Now, I have to get the Manix. I'm on to you Sal, but goodness knows what I'm going to do to stop. :p

Same handle and lock as the Chinook II so I think it is.

Okay, as long as we're spouting Manix questions. . . Is there any meaning behind the word "manix?" It wasn't in my dictionary.
