I don't think you're a spammer. Your experience is typical for many knife companies, and it's worth telling.

Yes, it's often a way to get a new product some exposure, better than paying for ads that just say what the knives can do, he was letting you see for yourselves. But obviously, your department was too small for this to be a big ad campaign. :)

I hope you and your wife can find the jobs to continue in law enforcement. We need you out there!
 
Ragingwolf66 is a good dude, and he's on a lot of the forums. I know he's not a preying mantis (my new term for the Mantis spammers-I know it's actually praying mantis, but since the spammers are "preying" on BF as of late, I thought I'd change the spelling/meaning). He just ended up in an unfortunate position because of the other preying mantids today.

Probably all of them are more in the category of innocent dupes than of evil spammers. Most of them, anyway....
 
What I find somewhat strange is why, with almost half of their knives' blades (13 of 28 on their website) made from 420HC, and two (2 of 28 on their website) of their knives' blades made from 420J2, they don't bother to list 420HC's or 420J2's properties on their steel chart: http://www.mantisknives.com/Faqs1.html Yet, they list ZDP-189 and VG-10, neither of which I was able to find on any of the 28 knives listed on their website.:confused:

What's up with that?

Just a guess, but perhaps it implies a certain level of quality in their product, even though, as you pointed out, none of their knives are made of those particular steels.

Please understand I meant no ill will towards you at all. I was just pointing out my issues with Mantis' business practices and product discrepancies.

Please do not take this wrong but isn't there less than 10 Officers in the Department? Please do not assume I am taking a pot shot at a small police department, that's not my point.

I remember the Police Chief of a Town near where I live who used the media to thank a Local gun dealer for supplying his "entire" department with handguns at no cost. The local dealer, pushing to get local approval to open a gun store, gave the Chief used semi auto handguns. The guns were in great shape and were made by Taurus. The Chief was very happy with BOTH guns to equip his two-man department. Yes, he equipped the entire Department with handguns..................

The point being that donations of equipment are wonderful and I am sure appreciated but there is a huge difference between donating knives to a 500 man Department versus donating knives to a five man Department.

We really, really don't appreciate a sales pitch in the middle of an honest discussion.

I shared in another thread my experience as a Police officer in a small town, who got taken care of by a relatively New knife company, and when I was searching threads, I found this one as well. I am a respected member in the forum communities, and am a member in at least another half dozen or so forums as well. I know my thread count here may seem Low, But I lurk here a lot. There was never any disrespect intended, I dont mess in my own house. Unfortunately, there seems to be a huge simultaneous influx of threads. I know that Jared was at the Blade show, and made an impression on a lot of people.

Right it is only a happenstance that these threads of yours are showing up after Jared called for a spam contest.
 
I have bought many of their knives. Was happy till having to send one in for repair. And it came back missing pieces and scratched up. I no longer will buy there knives.
