Mantis knives?

I had just bought the Pit Boss then read something about using different steel as advertised. It was the cpm 440v that sold me on it. So the thought of it only being 440c made me
send it staight back and I part exchanged it for a spydie.

Never again.
 
I zoned out when I saw an infomercial on a big knife that had a flashlight or something similar attached to it.

That's a whole new magnitude of stupid right there.
 
The thing that bothers me about that is he must have a whole lot of yes men working for him if nobody felt the need to tell him that he had just wasted 18 months on an interesting revolutionary design that really wasn't all that much of either

He probably knows, and is banking on the novelty factor working in his favour.
And some people ARE buying the knives, so if it keeps him in business, good for him (I just don't want any, is all;)).

Idk man I wouldn't want my name attached to anything that was less than the best. If somebody is that stupid to make name off of being mocked online but I'd rather be praised for my awesomeness than mocked.
 
Alright so I just got the knife today. The knife doesn't have an adjustable pivot, you can't take the knife apart, when the knife is closed it touches the frame making it nearly impossible to open the knife with out taking off three layers of your skin, the pocket clip makes absolutely no type of sense.

That being said the blade is a surpisingly nice size and shape for such a little folder, easy to sharpen for a knife which makes it good because I don't plan on using it all too much, the frame lock is also quite nice and has an early enough lockup.

My final thoughts. The bottle open kicks BUTT. This thing gets it on the first time every time.
 
you know its quality when his intro is a play by play of an OK movie and then he goes on to say that it took 18months for them to steal existing technology that i bet he had just laying around and then limiting it to where the blade is

I will tell you. After using this knife mantis will never get another dime of my money.....unless they stick to making bottle openers.
 
I know it's fun to make fun of Mantis and all, but didn't SOG just release a bunch of knives with flashlights built in to the handle?

There is an old aphorism in the sales biz:
If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bull....

Mantis apparently takes the second approach.
