These are the blocks that were cut in the Shop Talk thread. They were cut from a large maple burl cap that I seasoned outdoors to give it a bit of color. This cap had really good tight burl figure throughout the entire piece. There will be open eyes, small voids and bark pockets you will need to fill. That is the nature of this burl. The figure is very compact and 3 dimensional in every piece.

These blocks are about 2/3 of the way dry. They are not ready for immediate use. They will need to sit in a heated shop or indoors over the winter to be ready to use in the spring. They have not been trued perfectly square. I just cut them on my bandsaw and gave them a quick 60 grit belt sanding so you could see what you are getting. Photos show both sides of the blocks dampened so you can get a better idea what the color and figure will be like. They will look way better when you fine sand and finish them.
