Marble's Camp Cleaver?

looks ALOT like the aztec cleaver from condor. it says carbon steel. wonder how it'll hold up against the 420hc from condor.

looks cool if you ask me. might just have to order one.

I seem to remember someone on this forum raving about the Condor Aztec Cleaver. This is half the price so it sounds like a reasonable thing to pick up and try. I think I will order one tomorrow ;~)

i noticed it comes with a sharpening stone as well. i think sheath wise i'd rather take the leather from condor than the cordura one being offered by marbles.

I'll wait for the new Condor stuff but this don't look too bad.

It says on the site that it's made in El Salvador...can't be too many machete manufacturing plants there. Perhaps the resemblance isn't coincidental? The nylon sheath (as opposed to leather) could possibly explain for the price differential. The sheaths are half the cost of the machete.

The parent company of Condor is Imacasa. My guess is that they had a hand in this. :)

The wood handles could be the other cost saving step.

That also. Overall they look pretty decent! I'll be sticking to the main Condor line for now, but those look like a very good deal!

I picked one up just to have an extra, always looking for a new machete or chopper to abuse:). Have a couple of Condors and for the money they hold up well.

So you figure those are made for Marbles by Condor?

Quite probably Imacasa. FWIW, Imacasa's line is viewable online (via clunky interface), and the similarity between Condor, which seems to be their premium line marketed toward North America, is interesting. I wish their regular stuff was available more widely in the US.

Its interesting, I have been talking to one of the makers here about creating an aztec cleaver in A2 with wood grips... So being the cleaver nut that I am, I promptly ordered one of these.. Once I receive it, I will beat the crap out of it it on a piece of oak (my standard chopper test) and than post pics.....

Cool. Strip off that ugly (IMO) paint job (I usually like orange, but that is an ugly color) and put a forced patina on it. Could be a winner winner chicken dinner.

Actually, you could probably cook a chicken dinner on one of them. It's a pretty broad blade. Like a nessie on steroids. :D

On the Imacasa online catalog, they seem to welcome "vanity" knife designs. Probably even easier if the blades are already existing patterns. Whoever runs Marble's seems to have done a smart thing and gotten them to run some uncommon machete patterns for North American markets.
