March MYB thread

2 mile bike ride this morning; another 2 in the afternoon. 1BP.
1 mile walk tonight. 1BP.

38+1+1 = 40 BPs TTD.

Only 1 mile walk today. But one of the dogs came along. And we had a very successful garage sale. Plus I completed a speaker cabinet I've been working for a month. So, all in all, a very productive and deceptively active day.

41 BPs to date.

And, you are singlehandedly holding up the MYB thread. I want to know more about your building of speakers. I have built a couple, but they were pretty rudimentary, and before I acquired all the skills and tools I have now.

1600m swim this morning.

6+41+47 TTD.
Hit the lunchtime swim hour today for 2400m.
9+47=56 BP TTD.....and I still can't fit into most of my pants or shorts. I need to figure out a better weight loss plan. That doesn't involve cutting out beer.

45 BPs for March.

As far as speakers go, all I've done is woofer cabinets for the car. 6x9's in plywood in the '80's; then I let a couple folks build me some MDF ones in the '90's. Did my own in 1" MDF around 2009, and a fiberglass one for a 10" a couple years ago. Just completed a red oak, maple and HDPE one for a 12" driver. I still don't really have the proper tools to make a quality cabinet, and while I'm honing my skills they just aren't there yet - so I'm not attempting anything for the home anytime soon.
Here's the latest:

3/4" wood; 1" on the plastic. Titebond glued the wood together; used Sikaflex construction sealant to secure the HDPE face to the wood. I started each screw hole with a precision countersink on the drill press, but ran 'em through with a tapered-bit countersink on the hand drill. A few of the screws (2.5" #10 deck screws) got really close to the ends and tore through a bit. Is still solid as a rock, but not of a quality I would present anywhere.
It's just temporary so I can try the new speaker out - the fiberglass one is staying put.
Kinda off topic - should this go in the Snark thread?

I think you and I are the only ones who look/post in this thread, so who cares?
Cool work. You must be rocking the 'hood.....

Nah - just trying to get a balanced full-range of frequencies. Though there are MANY other tradeoffs, I find low frequency extension easier (and less expensive) to realize in the car than in the home, so I figure - why not?

Walked a 5k tonight.
46 BP's TTD.

Wife "encouraged" me to give up wine for 40 days. Cut out beer. Had a Mai Tai instead. I'm sure that's better...

That....is not "little", nor does it look "friendly"....pretty cool, tho...we pretty much have no big (or poisonous, FTM) snakes here. I don't think they like our winters very much.

we have plenty of snakes... they Winter okay...

technically we have timber rattlers... kinda getting rare though. asshats like tot kill them, and raid their caves.

i've bunny hopped a few snakes in the past, but unfortunately, sometimes they got run over. also one chipmunk. damn, that was tricky.
