March of Dimes Bowie

I try to aknowledge on the forum the donations come from, but sometimes it's hard to tell as I don't know all of the real names. I thought that was you Ryan, and yes I got your donation as well as Kevin's.Thanks to you both as well as good luck to you both!!!

thanks john....i just wanted to make sure my name was in the hat....hopefully it'll be right on top when u pick it!:D.....good luck to everyone in it and it's a great cause for money to go to....ryan:thumbup:

You are indeed in the hat Ryan, and you never know, it might be you! Last year's winner was a fellow in Ca. that had a single entry. The way the drawing will take place is this: We will go to the March Of Dimes regional office in Tupelo on the day of the drawing. The ticket stubs will be put in a container such as a plastic coffee can with a lid or a pillowcase, and mixed really well by the regional director of the March of Dimes. Layla will then reach inside and pull out the lucky winner. There will be pictures taken of the drawing and posted in a thread after the drawing.
We felt that this is the best way to do the drawing as there are local participants as well as our friends here on BladeForums and other internet forums. so that everyone knows this is an honest drawing in the event we have a local winner.

John, all you guys involved deserve a lot of credit as it takes quite a bit of time and effort to make these things happen. I know the March of Dimes is very appreciative.

Thanks Kevin, and you are correct, because there is a lot of effort that goes into this, even after the project is completed. I always breathe a sigh of relief after the package is mailed!I'm happy to do it, but I'm happy when it's over too, and I can't thank the other contributors enough, because without each and every one of them Layla and I would'nt be able to pull this off by ourselves!

I'm in - and I'd sure encourage everyone who hasn't bought a ticket yet to do so. Great knife, great cause and great people behind the whole deal.

Roger

I regret to inform everyone that I can no longer accept any more donations for this effort. Paypal has gotten wind of this and has stopped me from recieving any further donations, and there is not enough time to mail donations in before the drawing on the 16th. This will in no way keep us from drawing on schedule, nor will it keep the winner from getting their prize. I will give the March of Dimes the funds collected out of my own pocket until my account is unlocked. I have completed the steps required by PayPal to resolve the issues, now I just have to wait until they are satisfied.
I would like to thank all that have participated in this effort, both the contributing artists as well as those that have donated funds. Good luck and God bless you all!

I just heard back from Paypal, and they do allow raffles for chairities as along as it is not a huge prize like a house or car, and as long as 100 percent of funds collected go to the intended chairity, which they do, so anyone else wanting to enter using PayPal may do so!!

I probably should have warned you about that as they did the same thing with the Blade Forum Bowie project a couple years ago. Fortunately in our case it was after the project was over.
They sent me a very official e-mail and froze the account until we supplied a full accounting, including detailed accounting all money in and out, website information, bank statement, and a letter form the Breast Cancer Research Foundation stating they got a contribution and the amount.

It was a pain in the ass, but it's good to know Paypal is checking to make sure that contributions being collected through them is actually going to a legitimate charity. They report any fraud they fine as well.

I think they are OK as long as you let them know what you are doing in advance.

Thanks for your diligence, John. Nice save.

whew!:cool: I'll get right on it.

Just a reminder to everyone that the drawing is tomorrow, and the cutoff for paypal payments will be 12 o clock noon so that I will have time to get all the entries in prior to the drawing ,so if you want to participate please do so by this time. We are just a little shy of matching what we raised last year so a few more donations will put us over the top. Thanks to all that enter and good luck!!

I believe this is one of the nicest benefit knives I have seen and for such a good cause.

Thanks Kevin! I am really pleased with how this year's project turned out. All of the contributing artist's put their best effort into it, and it shows in the finished knife. The winner is going to be very pleased to say the least!!:D
