Hey guys,

My bestfriends son has joined the Marines, and I am building him a knife for his graduation. I was wandering if anyone new where I could find mosaic pins or something I could inlay into the handle that had to do with the US Marines. This will not be a carry knife, more of a collectors knife.
Any help would be greatly appriciated. We are all very proud of him, and he is like a son to me since I have no kids of my own.
Thanks,

David

your looking for an EGA
sgt grit (www.grunt.com) i think has uniform pins and coins might start looking ther if not let me know i ll look and see if i ahve any left that are not on my blues

Really appriceate it. I'll take a look. He'll be graduating sometime this summer. Don't have a particular date yet cause he ended up having to have a surgery before they put him in with his company. He had a bad start of it, but he's gun ho! now.
Thanks again!

If Butch can't find any not still attached to his Blues, I think I have some EGAs rolling around that I could help with also. I'd have to check the sizes though. -Matt-

Do you know anyone on base? I seem to remember way back when I was in they had pins and things you could buy and send to your mother, girlfriend, etc. I also think you could pick up lapel pins. Marines have a lot of pride, and there were a lot of things available to let your loved ones show their support. Any of these would be smaller than the bigger uniform pins.

Another idea is to contact the local recruiter, talk to him and let him know what you are doing for your friend and see if he can get you something.

Will this help? I only have one I think. It measures 1" X 3/4" You're welcome to it.

Man guys! Thanks for all the help! It's really great to see so many people, so fast, to help show their support for our guys! The post that butcher sent was just what I needed though. I think I will check out the recruiter also.
Blub, thanks for the offer.

You guys are the best!
Dave

Whoa, is that a stock knife or a custom build, because that is BADASS

Is the blade there mirror polished or coated with some sort of black DLC or diamondblak?

Spark, that's a proper mirror polish, reflecting the clear blue sky and throwing the sun back at you to tan your pasty hide and burn your retinas! Beautiful!

Butch, that's a great looking knife!

Just so you all know, Tandy had a set of stamps for leather with all of the services emblem. Nice addition to a sheath for a soldier.

and Butch is right the blood grooves are a hassle. His is a beauty. I had to go with the leather and the camo effect on the damascus. Plus I tossed a bit of pig fat in the quench just because I can be vindictive about people who try to kill Marines. Semper Fi
