Marksman 830

Untamed I can find no hits using your key word "Lineraar" in Bladeforums or in Google. Shucks.

Here are links to photos of my Italian-made pick lock fish. The button operates the release to open and to close you must insert your fingernails underneath the lock near the pivot and pull it away from the knife so the blade can swing free and be pushed closed. The French were making automatics (Châtellerault) with pick locks in the 19th century. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Switchblade

Woops! It's supposed to be "Lierenaar" (my bad!).

Sitflyer made an awesome post with very comprehensive info! He condensed all the best parts of this traditional folder.

Yup, this one looks like a real winner! I heard it, Bill said 154CM, ball bearing raceway, non assisted, and smooooth, yes he did! I want...no I NEED one of these new Bucks! :D
Thank you oregon for bringing this to our attention!

My pleasure sit. I love this stuff.

The Marksman looks thin enough for pocket carry, has that deep pocket carry clip that I like, light weight aluminum scales, great blade steel, tried and true (ancient) style lock which is adjustable and it is a Buck. WTG Buck.

Ok....So it will be 2 - 2.5 months....
I will be counting the days as they pass :)
I really liked it before, but now I love how it is a modern version of a very very old design!
Thanks for all the history guys :)

OK, that video from UST has me really interested now!

Bill has a great screen presence and he flips that folder with little or no wrist action which tells me that the flipper action is easy to learn and fast to operation. He makes that knife look like a real good tool in his hands.

Bill Keyes, Operations General Manager at Buck Knives, hand model and terrific fellow. Thank you Bill:

Interesting point for me was the adjustment built into the lock  That is a really clever idea! WTG to the R&D folks for coming up with that idea.

No disrespect to Buck, but I suspect you can credit Gavin Hawk for that twist. It sounds like the kind of detail he would include.

So.... right before Oregon found the release date info in a video, I had just emailed Joe Houser about this, and another unrelated question.
Hi kindly replied today.
We may be a little happier if this holds true :)
Fingers and toes crossed :)

Here is what he said about the Marksman:

I asked around and it looks like they are shooting for the end of this month, or early next for the 830.
I hope this helps.

The marksman looks like a nice knife. I can see a bunch of yahoos on YouTube going out of their way to break it, just to say what a bad company Buck is.

That is really unfortunate when certain people do this. I get a kick out of the ones who bash the knife and you can clearly see they haven't used it.

Excellent research Sitflyer as always

Another day closer :)

Anticipation is building daily.

I wonder if it would fit into an Alpha Folder leather sheath?
That would be awesome if it would.

Waiting,..... (watches clock) Waiting,..... (watches...................................................

I was fortunate enough to handle CJ Buck"s protoype of the Marksman it seems like a winner to me. I have carried my Vantage Pro since 2009 so it is time for an up grade. It is on my buy list for this year.

I don't suppose that you happened to notice how well the blade stayed closed? Is there a good detent keeping the blade from swinging open or something else keeping the blade closed? How much initial resistance do you feel trying to flip open the knife? Good fun waiting on this new folder. Something a little different from our friends in Idaho.

YES! I too am wondering all of this.
I am generally super bad at waiting....hahaha
This is a true test of learning to wait patiently!

Another video showing the Marksman with a few new data points and a happy demonstrator:
