Came today, overall the quality is fantastic, this locking system is gonna take some getting use to, but it locks up solid!

Have one little concern, not sure if it's supposed to be like this or not, but when the blade is fully opened and locked, the straplock does not seat all the way down against the handle, there's a gap between them.

For those that have 830's, is this normal?

I have one that is NIB and only been opened a couple times and the lockbar locks down flat against the handle when in the open position. No gap whatsoever.

Some normal wear or a very slight lock strap adjustment will cure the issue.

Thanks, I'm looking at other ones online and they don't have this either. There is a small screw at the end of the handle, I'm assume that's for adjusting the lock tension?

Yep, just got done tweaking it, it sits flush now and has no blade play.

Thanks folks! :)

Noticeably light for such a big folder to.

I'm playing with it, this lock is sure different.

Mine was VERY hard to unlock before I adjusted it earlier, I noticed that got better after I got the lock to seat properly.

I find that if I use my thumb on one side of the lock and my middle finger on the other side pointer finger pushing down on the spine it will close and snap into the handle in one motion.

That knife sure does open lightning fast, but I don't like how the blade bounces around when unlocked.

OMG:thumbup:

Red you are beautiful. I got it down cold on the second try thanks to your excellent description of a new way to close the Marksman. Outstanding. Clever. Easy.

This ancient pick lock has surprises still.

i am happy that your Marksman is squared away Bear Claw. Good work and thank you for sharing. I carry my 830 daily and couldn't be more tickled with it. Quite a knife.

Glad that method works for you. Discovered it completely by accident just fiddleing around with it trying to get aquainted with the new design.

I have tried this a few times..... it really flies into the closed position, but hasn't stayed there.... I will get it with practice....lol

I might need an Oregon instructional video ;)

I'm stomping thru Pandora for the correct music as you type bionic desert man. Mack The Knife... Everyone Wants To Rule The World...

RedCanoe, our terrific neighbor to the frosty North, shared his discovery: How to close the 830:

Yep.... mine pops back out everytime :(
I guess it just wants to be open so it can be used :D

You might, if you really want to close your Marksman this way, adjust the lock strap so that there is no rubbing on it by the blade as it travels in its arc to close. If the flipper nub rubs on the inside of the top strap then it won't have the velocity it needs to lock closed as the blade slams into its closed position. Also, your middle finger or thumb may be pressuring the lock bar into the flipper as you attempt to close it.

Those staples will have to come out sometime. I have a terrific assortment of tools in my garage so I can fix anything. Swing on bye when its time and I offer Buckforum members cents off!

I was thinking a little oil in the right spot might help.... will try at home later :)

Staples..... post-op appointment tomorrow morning. Not sure if they will pull the 40 staples then ( only 10 days) or wait longer.....
