Marksman 830

I'll say one thing, as bearing opening systems go, my ZT0561 has nothing on the Marksman, thing is smoooooth and freaky fast.

RedCanoe, our terrific neighbor to the frosty North, shared his discovery: How to close the 830:

That is damn brilliant. Works great.

DesertChris, the first few times I did it, the blade popped back partially open also, but I found that if you push down on the spine farther away from the handle, it closes and stays closed, whereas if I am pushing down on the spine above the thumbhole cutout, it has time to bounce, before my fingers let go of the lock.

The marksman is the only folding knife I want right now.
I would put it on my Christmas list but would just end up buying it for myself anyway after I opened all the shirts & socks.

That thing just has to wear some nasty hot spots on your hand if you really need to use it for anything other than opening mail.

It's a great knife. I've owned this model before but had to sell it due to some financial troubles.

I recently got another one and am very pleased thus far.

Glad to hear you got yourself another one John, you know how fond I am of the one you sold me.

The SLS takes some getting used to but it's functional and adjustable which I like. Like others have mentioned, it is a superb flipper. Absolutely flies out of the gate!

Haha thank you, Erik! I contemplated driving up to MN and asking for it back, but figured that would be in poor taste :D

LOL, who are you kidding? With the cold up here you would have turned around in Missouri. I know I would. :D

Just ordered a Marksman 830, first Buck I've ordered in a few years, really looking forward to getting my hands on it!

Congratulations Mike, I hope you find it to your liking. As with any knife the Marksman isn't everyone's cup of tea but I sure do like mine. The only reason I don't carry it more is that I haven't taken the time or made the effort to loosen the clip tension which is a little tight for the pocket hem on my particular brand of blue jeans.

I love G&G Hawk designs, so I know the mech is a little different. I love flippers, I have a ZT 560, 562, Brous mini division and vr71, District 9 flipper; I think it will be an interesting flipper addition.

I broke the snap on the buck 279 sheath I was using to belt carry mine....
So I loosened the pocket clip, and it has been pocket carried ever since.
Definately was worth the time to take care of the tight clip!

I did just that Chris. Already clipped onto my jeans for work in the morning of course I hit it a few licks on the Sharpmaker before that just to make sure it's up to and touching as we used to say.

Awesome!
At some point I am going to have to get a backup 830 :)
It is definately my favorite folding Buck Knife :)
